<<Chapter 4: School Lunches and Rehearsals>>
"Hey, have you seen Caroline anywhere?" Natalia asks, tucking a strand of her freshly-dyed pink hair behind her ear. She, Rachel, and I are currently in the school cafeteria eating lunch.
"Why do I feel like she's probably in the library with Finn?" Rachel replies, chuckling and rolling her eyes. Rachel is another of my best friends that I'm really close to, and we have a lot in common. It works out pretty great, since we take all the same electives and get to spend a bunch of our free time together at school. She has a glossy, dark brown hair that falls just before her shoulders and gorgeous hazel eyes.
"Because it's probably true," I answer, a hint of frustration in my voice.
"Who knows what the heck they're doing in there," Rachel wiggles her eyebrows causing Natalia to laugh, and I over-dramatically scrunch my face in disgust and shiver.
"I ship Carolinn almost as much as I ship Larry," Natalia says with a definitive tone.
"Wow, I never thought anything would come close to your dear One Direction fandom," I say and laugh, shaking my head. Oh, Natalia... That girl is one die-hard fan.
"You guys done eating?" Rachel asks, finishing up her juice box. Yes, we high school sophomores still enjoy a quality juice box. I mean, hey, what's not to like about flavored sugar water in square packaging?
Yeah, that's right, bitches. Nothing.
"Yep, I'm finished," I respond, looking over to Natalia.
"Okay, let's head back to the lockers and just hang out over there?" We all nod in agreement at Rachel's statement before lifting our cafeteria trays from the table and putting them away, heading over to the main locker area. It's a big, sunny, and open space with a fancy water fountain in front of it--the 4-floored high school building towering behind it.
"Ugh, I really need to find Caroline... I didn't do my science homework yet, and I have science next period. It doesn't make any seeeenssee" Natalia drawls out in a whiny voice and groans.
"All you have to do is find Finn," I roll my eyes and shrug, "and I assure you: she'll be within 5 feet of him."
"Very true..." Natalia nods as we reach the lockers, looking around. I'd offer my help on her homework, but I'm in the higher level science, and we're learning completely different things at the moment.

"We have musical rehearsal today, right?" Rachel frantically runs up to me by the lockers, dropping her backpack at me feet to pull out her script.
"Yep, till 5:30." I respond, shutting my locker and turning towards Rachel with a small smile.
"Good, because that's what I thought," Rachel says and chuckles lightly as I grab my script from my backpack.
Rachel, Natalia, and I are in the musical at our high school this year, and we have practice after school nearly every day of the week. I'm one of the wolves that scares people in the woods, along with being a smaller role in some of the songs. My part may sound pretty crappy, but I'm actually super excited to be a wolf and terrify people (as satanic as that may sound), because the other wolves are 2 of the dancers from my ballet class, so we get some cool choreography. Rachel and Natalia are both villagers: a fish seller and a hat seller. Ahhh, I can't wait to see their costumes....
"I'm hungry." Natalia says, over-dramatically pouting as she walks up to Rachel and I.
"Then go and get food, you idiot!" Rachel tells her off, laughing the whole time.
"But I don't have moneeyyyy," Natalia whines.
"Mmhm," Rachel raises an eyebrow before walking over and snatching a twenty-dollar bill from the front pocket of Natalia's backpack, shoving it into Natalia's outstretched palm before putting her hands on her hips.
"Hehe... Must've forgotten about that..." Natalia says sheepishly before scurrying off to the vending machines. I laugh and roll my eyes, shaking my head. Oh, poor child, what are we going to do with you?
"I swear, the pink hair dye must've gotten to her head," Rachel laughs.
"I second that," I say, shaking my head and chuckling lightly.
Rachel and I walk side-by-side over to the school auditorium, where our musical practice is.
"Hey, isn't Matthew in the musical?" Rachel asks me.
"Yep, he's one of the leads actually," I smile, glancing over to my right to see Natalia running over to us, clutching onto her newly purchased bag of M&Ms as if it was her baby.
"Can I have one?" Rachel asks Natalia, before shoving her hand into the M&Ms bag.
"No! Fuck off," Natalia slaps her hand away and jokingly gives her an evil stare.
"But... But I was was the one that found your money!!" Rachel makes a face as though she's about to cry. After a few seconds of staring at each other, both of my best friends burst out in laughter. Not gonna lie, this happens a lot.
Just another normal day in the life of Kate Stone...
