<<Chapter 11: This Calls for (Another) Toast>>
"Guys, really, it's fine--I don't want to be rude. Let's just forget all of this, okay?" I say, flinching slightly from the death glare I'm receiving on Serena's end.
"No, Kate," Natalia sighs, "You already started this whole thing, so let's just talk it out and try to fix it like mature people."
"Okay, but I really don't want to be rude... Uh..." I grimace slightly.
"Just spit it out," Rachel adds as she flops down onto the bed. "It's going to get said one way or another."
"Okay," I say, redirecting my attention to Serena. I see looks of hesitant anticipation on Natalia, Rachel, and Sloane's faces... But Serena's face is simply coated in self pity--but underneath, we all know that she's simply desperate for attention. It's disgusting.
"Look, Serena..." I start, "You're an amazing person, and I don't know whether or not you're trying to be constantly in the spotlight, but it sometimes seems that way. You have a great personality, so why don't you try getting attention from your good qualities versus sympathetic attention? It honestly just makes me feel like a terrible friend when you always complain about things that you know I can't help you with, or I offer my help but you deny it and continue complaining. What do you want me to do? I guess that what I'm trying to say is: maybe dial it down a notch? It's okay to vent every once in awhile and we're all here for you," I gesture to the other girls and they nod in agreement, "but if you keep repeating your problems over and over but rejecting our help, it tends to get a little bit frustrating." I smile hesitantly and hand Serena the hairbrush, indicating that it's her turn to talk.
"Oh my god, you think I'm trying to get attention?! I don't care about my short height, Jesus!! You're not the only one with problems! And by the way, I never complain about my problems! You're wrong!! And I have problems too!!! You're not the only one with problems!!" Serena screeches angrily before forcefully throwing the brush at my chest and shoving her face into the pillow. Jesus, that girl is a piece of work...
Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into?

After about an hour of talking it through, at last, the idiotic intervention is over. Serena got her deserved roasting, and in the end, everyone apologized. Or, at least, I did.
Needless to say, it's been a hell of a long day--and it's only 6:00 PM. I completed my last day of sophomore year, Serena stirred up some unnecessary drama, I was forced to discuss said drama in an orderly fashion, and even the hair brush of authority has made it's worldly debut. Like I said: hell of a long day.
"So... Do you guys want to head downstairs and we can figure out dinner?" Sloane says slowly in an attempt to break the awkwardness.
"Sure! I love food, man..." I gaze off lovingly before adding, "and I'm so hungry!" I start making my way down the white, carpeted staircase, following Sloane.
"Same!" Rachel calls out and we high-five dramatically as we run down the rest of the white staircase.
"Ugh. I ate so much today. I ate n entire mini muffin and a scoop of ice cream... I'm so fat. I'm not going to eat anything, I ate way too much today," Serena says in a pitiful tone, looking around at us in anticipation as she awaits one of us to tell her that she isn't fat and 'reassure' her. Natalia looks at her with disdain and a hint of disgust, shaking her head and brushing past her to continue walking down the stairs.
Serena is visibly not a fat person, and that girl needs to stop fishing for compliments. Seriously, what was the purpose of that dumbass intervention if she's going to keep pulling this shit? Ugh.
