Ch 2: Attending university

Meiling's pov:

Today was the first day of me attending MingDe university. It actually started a month ago but due to issues back home I enrolled a month late and now I just had to catch up on the courses I was taking and try, "try" to make new friends.
Not that I am looking to make any, "best friend" as Jin Ri literally said she'd murder me if  found another best friend. However I wanted some reasonable company with whom I could atleast pass this year.

"Hey you ready?" I asked Kevin as I walked down the stairs.
"Oh yess, going to newww schoooollll" Kevin waved his hands like a child and then gave me an unimpressed glare while stuffing his mouth with breakfast. I just laughed and ruffled his hair as I sat on the chair beside him

"Hey! Not the hair!" He said.

"I'll just have the juice Mrs Yu, I have to go to university today and it's my first day, so I can't be late-"

"Lah, you're getting thinner and thinner day by day, have your whole breakfast only then you'll be allowed to go. How am I supposed to reply to your Ah ma if she complaints to me about not taking care of you."

I smiled at that, I missed Ah ma for sure.

"Soo, how's it going for you? How are you feeling about your first day?" Kevin asked me as he clapped his hands together.

"Pfft. Pls Kevin I have gone to college before, remember I just transferred to the university here. And don't forget, I went to NYU, ahh I miss going there-"

"Whatever, I hope you have a good day jie. Oohhh can I come to pick you up after college?" Kevin asked

I choked when he asked that question and stared coughing, "What?! I mean what?! No don't you dare do that Kev, and I'm warning you, if you do something like that-"

"Jie chill, I'm only asking to pick you up after college. What's wrong?" He asked with a wide smile that meant no good.

"Oh I have no intention to go through the embarrassment that happened last time"

It was just the start of freshman year at NYU,  I was getting off the stairs with my friends, "okay so I'll let you know, bye!" I waved off to my friends when I turned around I saw my brother with innocent teary eyes and with a sign in his hand, he saw me and ohno-
"Jiejie pls don't runaway!" He started crying and the sign he had read-
"We love you no matter what. Please come home and don't runaway often dear jie."
People came to comfort this childlike looking devil and looked at me like I was a- well nevermind.
There was nothing like that about what he wrote but everyone thought I was a druggie or addict or someone mad who ran away. And I had to clear to every second person who asked me about why I ran away or if I was okay or that I should go meet their therapist they recommend at the weekend,I had to explain them, that it was just my little brother playing a prank.

"I am warning you Kev, no need to make a first impression like that here."
"Ohhh okayy bye, I'm leaving now. Good luck for your first day. Love you!" Kevin said as he got up and kissed your cheek.

"Bye Kev, have fun love you too." You said and decided it was time for you to leave for university as well.

I reached Mingde university, it was my first day. I decided to not let people figure out who I am and so decided to dress casual just a crop top, flannel and black jeans. "Come on just one year and then you'll go back", I sighed, as I said to myself, my head and hands on the steering wheel. I parked my car a mile away and walked towards the gate. I really wanted to pass the whole year with bare minimum interactions.

I was walking in the halls when I noticed a girl there, she was huffing and muttering something while she walked back to and fro, I decided to approach her as I needed to find the second year business class.

"Umm hello," I said as I cleared my throat. "I'm Meiling, I'm new here can you please tell me the directions to second year business class? I'm kinda lost." I said hoping she'd understand.

The girl blinked at you and then she exclaimed, "Oh! Of course! Hello Mei Ling, I'm Shancai, nice to meet you, you're new here?"
"Yes I am" I smiled liking the girl

"Well, okay, welcome here! The business class are all probably on the first floor that side" she said pointing towards the right.

"Okay thank you so much Shancai." I said, just as I was about to walk some guy suddenly walked in. "Shancai! Are you alright? I heard Daoming Si wore your shoes and ruined them! The next time I see him I-"

"Qinghe," Shancai nudged the guy to look towards me, "this is Mei Ling. Meiling this is Qinghe. "Hello Qinghe" I said to him who gaped at me like a fish. Shancai once again hit him in the elbows and then he seemed to come back to reality, "hello Mei Ling, nice too meet you. Are you new here?"

"Yes I am, actually I've transferred here, I'm in second year business. Are you guys in business as well?" I asked

"Oh no no, we're both in Nutrition and we're still freshman here" Shancai replied smiling.

"Well too bad, I really liked your company Shancai"

"You can sit with us in Lunch Mei Ling! That is of course if you don't mind"

I was about to correct her that my name was Meiling, not 'Mei Ling' but I thought never mind, moreover it would help if people didn't hear the "Young" behind my name and hence it would be exactly like how I would want it to be. With minimum interactions.

"Of course I wouldn't mind! Also, who ruined your shoes, tell me if you don't mind me asking-"

"Mei Ling! A girl like you would have to be protected from the F4 by me! Shancai we will need to tell her all about them!"
I scoffed when he said that he'd have to protect me- but what was F4? And looking at Shancai, I saw her expression and she jumped to tell me all the things about F4 and this special guy Daoming Si
