"Jie...heheh hahahhdhe ahhahhah now you look like your true self... hahah hahah I-I'm sorry." Kevin laughed like a maniac as he examined his sister's state which was very decent compared to how she looked an hour ago. An hour ago she was drenched in a dumpling by the shoulder, noodles by the hair and lettuce somewhere on the face with sauces all over. Thankfully with Lei's help, only the sauces remained as he removed the visible trash from her face.

"Kevin... I don't have enough energy to deal with you right now." Mei exclaimed as she walked through the hallway towards the kitchen to get some water.

Hearing this Kevin's face felt and his joking demeanour turned to slightly angered and concerned. "What happened?"

"Nothing"

"Don't lie Jie. Was it a guy? Guys?? Girls? Professors—"

"KEVIN!" Mei had to literally shout to stop Kevin's ongoing rambling's. "I'll tell you later okay? Just leave me be for now and oh pls welcome our guest."

"Guest? Which guest? Where? Who— oh there's you. Who are you? Umhmm Jie did you get a boYFriEnDddd—" Kevin said turning around and kept going on and on. Had Mei not shouted and slapped his shoulder standing in front of him, he would have had embarrassed her to no end.

"He is my friend Kevin. Now GET OUT." Mei said glaring daggers at him.

"Sure pfft. Friends. like duh!! Hi! I'm Kevin! Jie's most charming and dashing brother and her sole will and reason to live—" Kevin started his trail of nonsense once again, turning towards the only silent and shocked person in the room.

Huaze Lei.

"Kevin. If you don't stop yourself right now, I'll have a very hard time explaining our parents how majority of the bones in your body are broken."
Meiling said. And even though she wasn't serious at all, she did seem threatening enough.

"Jeez alright jie, always so violent" Kevin said raising his hands in surrender, and turning towards Lei. "No but seriously who are you?" Kevin asked him.

"Huaze Lei. Meiling's friend."

Hold on.

Hold on.

What?

Did Lei just say that he was her friend? Since when? Since when did he do stuff that friends do with each other with her? What made him assume that they were friends? And agreed Kevin's question would've made anyone answer the same, but this wasn't anyone. This was Huaze Lei. He didn't concern himself with others. Infact he had a track record of being spotlessly clean when it came to meddling in other's life.

Why did he say that they were friends?

Were they?

No friends don't ignore you in music classes.
So he definitely wasn't a friend. Just a classmate. A regular aristocratic classmate.

However, regular classmates don't help you drop at home skipping their own lectures when you want to go home. Regular friends don't remove noodles from your hair with so much precision and care that your hair doesn't pluck off and doesn't hurt. Regular friends don't care if you mess up their top model sports cars with mayonnaise sauce.

And moreover, they don't stay when you go through something so awful and then come all the way to comfort you and stand in front of your slightly idiotic, no no fully idiotic brother.

Then why Huaze Lei

Why are you here?

And why did you say you are my friend? Are you really though??
