The day was finally here Mary would be marrying Sebastian. It wasn't anywhere near the fanfare that had been her wedding to Francis, but even then, it was still a bit over the top as any wedding of a king and queen would be and Mary couldn't bring herself to care much because it made her happy to go all out.
She was in love, pregnant, and had the king of her dreams beside her for the rest of her life. Everything was perfect planned down to the last detail and both Diane and Mary grew closer as they planned the wedding. It shocked most but the former mistress seemed to make a complete 180 and become a doting mother in law and grandmother. She spent time with both Mary and sally and often doted over Mary's now extending belly.Standing in her room in a dress that had been made specifically for her, it was more special than her others as she ran her hands over the silk that extended over belly which now to her looked like a giant ball had been stuffed under her skirt only she couldn't move it and it made her very tired very fast. She had to walk slow to keep from waddling. She only let herself waddle in front of her friends and family in private. She fixed the veil over her face and turned facing the mirror she couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic wishing her mother was able to be here but then remembering why she wasn't she sobered up.
A knock on her door had her waddling over to answer it revealing Diane and her cousin Elizabeth made her smile she stepped back and the two ladies joined her as did her friends. She stood back in front of the mirror and she felt Diane come up behind her putting her hands on her shoulders. "Are you nervous my dear?"
She smiled "A bit but only about tripping cause I cant see my feet." She joked.
Diane chuckled softly looking in the mirror at her standing behind her ''I always wanted a daughter... I love my son but I always wanted a little girl that I could love and dress up." She said softly
Mary smiled "Well it works out don't it cause now you have a granddaughter." She said gently
She smiled nodded "It indeed does work out and I couldn't have imagined in my many years that I'd stand here on my son's wedding day talking to his bride the Queen." She said softly
Mary smiled "I've always loved your son and even breaking his heart as I did was only to protect him from the sheer cruelty, of Catherine's threats I knew it was better that he was heartbroken and alive at that point than my husband and dead... fate always finds a way to happen even if things spring up in the way to stop it."
Diane kissed her head and stood behind her fixing a few things on Mary's dress and veil, "Yes she does and now fate has decreed you will be my daughter in law... so from one De Poitier's woman to another this is a gift from my mother. I held onto it after his father married him to Kenna because I felt there was someone else who would receive this." She said softly.
Mary watched as the woman opened a box revealing a beautifully made Tiara and Mary gasped softly her eyes widening it wasn't overly done like most royal tiara's no this was hand crafted with love in every diamond and jewel placement.
She smiled watery "I would be honored to wear it Diane." She said softly.
She smiled lifting the tiara placing it in her hair just under the veil before flipping it over allowing the veil to cover her face. With that finale piece they ladies made there way to the throne room and waited just outside as everyone took their spots. Diane and a nobleman from Scotland took the seats beside Henry and Kenna though It was not natural usually Kenna's spot would be filled by the Queen Of France but seeing as there wasn't a Queen of France Henry felt confidant that nothing would go wrong today.
Mary's ladies each took their places, Greer walked with sally down the aisle spreading flowers and Lola held her baby a little boy who Mary had dubbed ring bearer. She held her hand out to her brother who took it wrapping hers around his arm as the music started, they started their march and Mary only had eyes for one. As soon as she entered the room, she locked eyes with Sebastian and the smile that broke across his face was like the sun rising in Mary's world. To be here walking down the aisle to him made her heart skip a few beats with each step closer but staring in his eyes made every fear she had disappear. The sheer love and loyalty in his eyes made her smile brighter and when he caught sight of the tiara his beaming smile grew even more.
