Chapter four

Later that month there was yet again another feast only this one was different because Francis was glaring at bash and Mary like they had destroyed his most prized possession. Henry had written immediately to the Vatican requesting both annulments with the full reasons as to why they had sent a cardinal to finalize both. Mary would be keeping the position of queen of France since Lola was not fit to rule Henry made that clear even If she did Marry bash then it wouldn't matter.

Mary sat beside bash the entire court knew her marriage was over and they knew why it was over at her request Lola had been treated no different since Francis has been her king she had no choice however Francis had a choice and she didn't protect him even if deep down she knew Lola had a choice to be with him she did not want to lose anymore friends especially after Aylee. Both Queen Catherine and king Henry sat at a table with two cardinals who had come from the Vatican. Every time mary saw them she was afraid that it would be her last chance to ever be with bash if they denied her, the annulment and she would forever remain Francis's wife and the thought almost sent her into tears.

She grabbed bashes hand under the table holding it tightly looking around the room as to not provoke any suspicions but bash squeezed back all the same trying to reassure her without words that everything would be fine. Mary saw the little girl who had lost her entire family dancing with bash's little half brother Henry smiling and she smiled too she wanted to spend time with her help her get through this but since Henry had declared she would still be queen of France one day it didn't matter though only until Francis and lola's child was grown and Francis gone then she would be queen mother even if she were not the child's mother.

She felt Kenna sit beside her and she started talking to her softly. Feeling the Vatican's eyes on her she kept her mask up and didn't let them see anything just as Henry and bash had instructed her.

With in a few moments king Henry stood up and clinked his glass with his knife clearing his throat "may I have your attention."

Everyone stopped what they where doing and stared at the king even the kids stopped playing though they where to young to understand they knew when to shut the hell up.
"Our dear friends for the last month we have had strife in our midst some of you saw the decibel that ended the queen and dauphins marriage and others have heard about it." He said

Every one nodded waiting to see where this went "in order to protect my friends in Scotland I have requested an annulment for the queen and dauphin and it has been granted!"

Everyone clapped and Mary's shoulders noticeably sank in relief she was no longer francis's wife. She felt bash rub her back discreetly and Kenna smile had her whispering soft words of comfort.
The king wasn't done however "I have been acting rather irrational as of late and finally have come back to my senses and in those irrational months I forced my son Sebastian to Marry Lady Kenna they where not a union of love but force and for that I apologize I have requested an annulment for this as well and it has been granted!" He said

Kenna and bash shared a warm look "we may no longer be married but will be forever friends." She said softly

"I'd have it no other way" he said

"I hope you don't mind but I have no plans to change my name back my parents disowned me for being the Kings mistress. And tried to worm their way back in when it mattered to them." She whispered

Bash looked at Mary who smiled softly at her friend "Kenna no one would ever expect you to change your name I'm sure bash doesn't care he's just not say anything to keep from putting his foot in his mouth you will forever be known as Kenna De Poitiers." She said

Bash kissed her cheek " what did I do to deserve you Mary?"

She smiled playfully " love me unconditionally even when I broke your heart" she whispered softly
