Through the faded throes and failed lores I found a love so profound with much in store Through the filth of fished seas and faltered skies I found a love so true it erased all the lies Though fate is harsh, the truth to us is more so How I dig under thorny beds just so you won't go It was not meant to be—voices of old whisper so low It's a failed promise from the start—a failed seed to sow But is love really what society tells us in this age? Is it brief kisses, signatures strewn on a page? If so, then ours truly is the fruit of sins unforgiven Time and again, I search for you in the paid price laden
This is the love we found in the depths of despair Where the dark is our friend and the abyss enjoys us stare It was a minute of hell—we get burned in our sleep How we dive and resurface. having touched the great deep Then we break free with hearts torn and fists bloody The light rushes in, igniting our sorrow and body This is the love that brought us back to life —the one that changed the course of greed and strife If this is the truth we what we have, then I digress Because this is worth fighting for, worth the regress Love, I knew the reason why I choose to be here Why, time and again, I search for the right course to steer
It is this love, darling, the one we have given up The plains of diluted graves and tears that won't stop I dry your cup and you fill it with unbridled hate You soak me in poison and I always take the bait This vessel we drink from—one our memories shared If this is love, darling, have our souls been bared Of hidden feelings and time given and lost Of promised vows and prices too high of a cost? Still, I choose to sit still and meet the coming waves I greet the morning with a grin coming to the graves Of my past selves—ones that were free to laugh Time and again, I hope my love for you is enough
If this is love, darling, I guess it's right for me To be in this bliss of heaven, free of misery I could have turned a blind corner into the dark Yet you hold my hand and maintained the spark This is love—I know now—it's how we never let go How time and again we came back to where we grow We are hopeless fools drinking in salty tears of old But for you, I'd do it—consider me sold This is love, darling, and it's our choice to continue Take my heart, my soul—together we start anew So this is love—how little I know what is true Time and again, I search high and low until I've found you

Not me dying in writing genre fiction that I forced poetry to take a back burner for a moment. Still, I owe it to collections like this that my prose is as good as it is now. ;-;
So yeah, idk if this poem is sad or something but it talks about the highs and lows of love and all that shizz. It's written way back february and I haven't just gotten around to updating. xD
