Hawks couldn't sleep that night. He found you and yet you couldn't remember him. And even though he made a promise to both you and himself, it always seemed to put him in trouble.

This version of the pink haired girl he's waited on was different than the younger version that he has learned from. He'd be lying if he said he didn't miss the Y/n he's known.

But what else could he do?

He recalled memories he recalled the determined and happy sparkle in her beautiful, beautiful eyes.

But she didn't have that fire in her eyes anymore and she knew it.

For years and years he's waited on seeing her, wondering how tall she'd become, how fun she'd be, how safe she would make him feel.

Before her he felt suffocated in his own skin, getting oxygen in his own body and feeling human was something he yearned for. But you taught him how to become human, you taught him how to breathe.

Although he was going to be cliche, but you were better than heaven, better than the seraphs that could possibly covet them in a gentle embrace, better than anything he could possibly hope for and it was all because of the type of person you were.

To others it might've sounded like it was stupid, like it was an exaggeration- but to him, you were everything he wished for and more.

Well that's at least what he was still counting on. He only knew the past you, the old you- never thinking that as time goes by so will you.

But now it felt like what he once called as heaven felt more of a sin.

Oh how unfortunate everything felt for him.

Shutting his eyes he took in a shaky breath, how was he supposed to breathe normally when everything he once missed was completely out of his grasp?

"I'll patch you up for as long as I'm around k'ay?"

Did you know that you weren't going to be around much longer?

It seems as though he could no longer keep his eyes shut for too long before he starts to drown in what he hoped weren't just forgotten memories.

And yet even when he was awake his wishful thoughts still kept him cold.

Cold to the skin that layered his body, cold to the brain that seemed full of thoughts and memories, and his very own heart felt like it was wrapped in a sleeve of ice.

It may have seemed that he was overreacting, but how would someone feel when the person that taught them how to love couldn't remember it?

He wondered if what he was feeling was mutual. If you recognized him, would you miss him? Would you explain to him why you suddenly left? Or how you managed to break a promise you seemingly weren't aware of? Was everything that he remembered just a headache you don't wanna be reminded of?
