A web of lies

Chapter 19

James pulled out his pack of cigarettes and lit one up while sitting on a rock at the side of the road, watching the entire street mingle and have fun.

JAMES POV

So it's Jessica. I never expected this betrayal from Jessica. I have to find out what the hell happened. Why did she pretend to be Lizzie. Why did she pretend with me. Was it all a joke? She played with my heart and my feelings. She never loved me, did she? I never once lied to her. Screw it I need to be alone with her.

James walked up to Jessica and said " I don't feel very well, can you take me to my hotel?".

"Yes sure but I thought you were staying here", asked Jessica.

"I already booked my room!", said James.

James didn't even tell Elizabeth or his parents he was leaving, he just grabbed his bags . When they got to the car he wanted to drive so she let him.

James waited for Jessica to enter the car and buckle up and then he drove of.
After a while he pulled up to the side of the road.

"Dude is something wrong with the car?" She asked .

"No, it's 11:59. I came here to ring in the new year with the woman I love!".

"James you were the one who wanted to leave. Sorry you have to spend it with me!", said Jessica.

"Happy New Year Jessica!", James said.

"Same to you", said Jessica.

(James started to tear up)

"Jessica do you know why I fell for the girl behind those messages? Because she was real ,
she came in my life when I needed someone.
Every heartbreak, every time the world told me no, every time a door was slammed in my face, everytime I almost gave up she was there!
Jessica I appreciate her so much. I was alone for most of my life,
my parents left me.

They sent me to boarding school when I was 10 years old, I was just a child. For years I would cry myself to sleep. And right after when I thought I was going home, they sent me to college.
Every birthday, every Christmas, every New year, Thanksgiving, Easter .
Every thing special,
I was alone. I always wondered what I did wrong.
My whole life I felt unloved and unwanted.
Even my parents didn't want me. I thought if I became an architect like my dad he would finially see me and be proud of me.
But he never did see me or said it, not once!
Life was hard for me.
I couldn't understand how my parents would make time every year for their friends and not for me.
Then one day, out of nowhere,
I got a message from a stranger and I started seeing the world different, because to me it was different.
That stranger changed my life in so many ways.
I fell in love with her, not for her beauty or money.
I fell in love with her because she saw me, without even seeing me.
And even though I realized tonight that she never loved me I never got to thank her for being the best part of my day.
For sharing hers with me.
Jessica I wanna say from the bottom of my completely shattered heart.....

"James I.... I can explain" said Jessica.

"No it's okay jess, really I get it. I am a fool, I'm sure you and Elizabeth had your fun!", said James wiping his eyes.

"If I couldn't even get my parents, the people who are programmed to care for there children, to love me. Why would you ? " said James.

"James it's not like that! Please."Jessica said.

James exited the car, took his bags and walked to the hotel as it wasn't to far.
Jessica took a few minutes to gather herself and then drove back to the house.

Elizabeth went looking for James but she couldn't find him she asked Jessica where he was and she told her that he went to the hotel.

Jessica tried calling James all night but his phone went straight to voicemail. She needed to explain herself because James didn't have the full story.
