Verity's POV

I fell onto my bed and pulled the pillow over my head, as much as I willed myself not to give up I couldn't  carry on doing it. Silly little school girl pranks are all well and good but cutting a massive chunk out of my hair was too far, I only spilt paint on her its not like I cut her hair off or anything. That girl was a bitch, I know I am aswell but I would never do that. My dad raised me to be better than that, name calling and pranks were just high school things. Some of my friends stopped talking to me after the paint thing, they said it was too far. My boyfriend is away at a basketball tournament in orlando, I miss him.

I heard someone knock at the door, "go away" I muttered my voice muffled by the pillow. "Your dads home he wants to know if you want to come to the mall with us" Sauli said from outside the door. "As much as I would love that I have to say no" I replied, I heard footsteps as my dad and Sauli talked outside the door. "Honey im coming in" my dad said as I heard the door open, the bed dipped where he sat on it.

"You don't want to come shopping? Whats wrong?" he asked. "Nothing" I answered, he gently pulled the pillow away and gasped. "What happened to your hair!" he said. "Some girl at school cut a massive chunk out of it" I replied, "what the hell?! Why would someone do that? Surely a teacher wouldn't have stood for that?!" he said.

"There was no teachers there it was after school, it was the girl who flour bombed me" I explained. "What is that school doing?! I pay them enough god damn money yet they let girls do this to each other im going to ring them" he said angrily standing up. I grabbed his arm "dad please don't I can handle it" I told him, "are you sure?" He asked. I nodded "you tell me if anything else happens?" he asked. "Yes dad" I replied, "good well we need this sorting" he answered, "the hairdressers are shut dad it will have to wait until tomorrow" I replied.

"Sorry to interrupt but I could take a look if you want that is" Sauli asked leaning on the doorframe. "Youre not a hairdresser I don't want it to look worse" I replied. "Actually I am did you want me to have a look or not?" he answered quietly, "go ahead" I replied as I turned and he stood behind me. I cringed a little when he grabbed my hair between his fingers, "Well good news is its still long enough to layer it did you want me to do that?" he asked. "I suppose so" I replied, my dad handed him the scissors as he put them against my hair. I held my breath as he cut it, little pieces fluttered onto my bedroom floor as I placed my hands over my face.

"Ok done" he said as I got up and looked in the mirror, it was shorter on top now. It looked weird, I kinda hated it. "Thank you" I replied biting my lip, "that's ok" he replied smiling and leaving the room. My dad walked over and placed his hand on my shoulder, "you hate it don't you" he asked. I nodded I let out a shaky breath, he pulled me into him. "Babe its only hair" he replied, "its not just that dad" I replied burying my face in his neck.

"What is it?" he asked, "nothing" I replied quietly. He moved back his hands on my shoulders, "look at me" he replied as my gaze left the floor and was drawn to his eyes. "Don't lie to me verity, you forget I know you better than anyone" he told me. I sighed and sat on my bed as he sat next to me "Everything dad, I cant do this anymore. Everything , my friends are all going off with her and Harley is away. My hair looks like shit, everythings going wrong I cant fight anymore" I said  my breath leaving my body in shaky sobs.

He wrapped his arms around me "Hey hey hey calm down, its not as bad as all that" he answered as I sobbed into his tshirt. "Its all because of her, I know I should fight for my friends but I cant. Im not strong enough" I replied. "Verity you listen to me ok, youre stronger than this. Don't give up because of some girl, its not worth it honey. Youre a smart kid, I know youre stronger than this. I raised you that way, I hate seeing you so upset but everything will work out ok I promise" he replied.

"Im glad you think so dad but I don't, you cant promise me it will be ok" I told him. "It will now come on honey dry those tears lets go get some pizza for tea" he said. I sniffed and wiped my eyes with my hand, "that's my girl" he answered kissing my head and standing up. "Come on then" he answered holding out his arm. I looped mine through his as we headed downstairs, Sauli was sitting on the front porch step staring into space.

My dad let go of me and walked up to Sauli wrapping his arms around his neck as kissing him. I cringed a little, I figured I better not say anything after all he did tidy my hair for me. I doubt it will last though he'll do something to piss me off and then we will yell abuse at each other again. We all climbed into my dads car and headed to the mall.
