"I still don't understand how you managed to sneak away from everything so easily," Shigure commented as he dragged his sled behind him.

Corrin eyed him while he dragged his own, far larger, sled, a wry smile on his lips. "Kiddo, there was nothing easy about what we just did. And you were there. You should understand."

Shigure eyed him right back, but couldn't help but grin after a moment. It had been pretty easy in his eyes, but he supposed that his father had done most of the legwork there. The family was all together again for about a week before a major summit... thing. Shigure wasn't sure what exactly was going on, just that it involved a lot of nobility and that his aunts and uncles were planning on making changes to the government.

Of course, Queen Camilla had insisted that they have family time before that, so they'd gathered up in Valla for a week before that summit so everyone could be together. Shigure had lasted about a day with all of his aunts and uncles, new baby cousins, and his siblings that were admittedly much less squishy now... before he started clinging to his father- who was also overwhelmed, just better at hiding it. Mother at least got breaks because she had her hands full with the twins and, even better, she knew where all the good hiding places in the palace were.

Which was why they were out here on the hills near the castle with their sleds, where their family, hopefully, would not find them for a little while. Shigure hopped onto his sled, scooting forward. "Hey." Corrin put a hand on his shoulder, smiling even though there was a hint of concern in his red eyes. "Are you sure that you don't want to stay on my sled? The hills are kind of big."

Shigure blinked up at him. "I am six years old now," he replied, his words causing Corrin's brow to furrow a bit. "And you gave me my own sled because the hills really aren't that big."

Corrin remained there for a minute, something flickering behind his eyes before he stood. "Yeah. Yeah, you're right. Just be careful."

"You sound like Mother."

"Is that a bad thing?" Corrin asked, an incredulous tone overtaking his voice as he got on his own sled.

"No." Shigure grinned at him. "Just weird." And he kicked off against the last stretch of flat ground between him and the slope so that he was speeding down the hill before his father could respond. He heard the second sled coming down soon enough, though, and his father flew past him with a small trail of snow spraying the air between them before Corrin masterfully spun the sled to a stop at the bottom of the hill. Shigure did his best to replicate this feat, but ended up just spinning.

"Hey!" Corrin laughed, grabbing his arms so that he stopped spinning. "You have to put your weight down on the side you're spinning the sled towards. Otherwise, this happens."

"Wouldn't that make me tip over?" Shigure asked, shaking off the dizziness so that there was only one of his father instead of one with two afterimages.

"Only if you do it wrong." Corrin placed him and his sled on his much larger sled, beginning the long climb upwards. "I'll have to show you on the way back down."

"Okay, Caesar."

Corrin stopped walking and shot a glare over his shoulder. "You may be my child, but call me that again and you're walking home."

Shigure just grinned. He knew that was an empty threat. His mother would have his father's head if he made him walk through the snow. "You still owe me the story of why the soldiers call you that, and why you hate it so much."
