*A small five-part series from an RP with a friend
Xander stirred, blinking out of sleep. Still feeling tired and too weak to move much, but his eyes were clear at least and the worst of the heat in his head was gone. He looked about the room, blinking in surprise when his gaze landed on Linayasa. She looked to be peacefully asleep in the chair, her breathing slow, her expression calm, the smallest of smiles on her face. Her hand remained on her lap, while her other hand was supporting her head, elbow propped up on the arm of the chair. Her hair, he noted with interest, was in a braid and draped across her lap, down to the floor.
He gave a soft, small smile at the sight of her there, through he was a bit worried about what time it was if she was asleep. It was downright impossible to tell with the drapes closed. His head still felt a bit fuzzy, and... no. The last thing he remembered was falling asleep with her watching over him.
There was light, and Xander looked towards the door as it was opened slowly and carefully. Four familiar faces peeking in cautiously: Leo, Corrin, Azura and Laslow.
"Hmmm..." came a sigh from Linayasa's direction, and Xander turned his attention to her just in time to see her lifting her head.
"Whoops," Corrin said quietly.
"Oh well," Azura sighed. "Can we come in Xander?"
"Of course," he replied, making no effort to hide the amusement in his tone and managing to sit up with a slight wince. "I'm glad to see you all."
"Oh, lie back down," Leo snorted as the three of them stepped into the room. "Don't strain yourself on our account." Xander couldn't help but roll his eyes at Leo's insistence, but he still did as he was told. He was more likely to be energetic enough to keep up a conversation if he was conserving his strength and he didn't want to worry the three of them.
Lináyása blinked more, looking towards the others as they entered, shifting so that both her hands rested on her lap. "What time is it?" She asked, the remnants of sleep still evident in her voice, but her icy blue eyes were alert.
"Two in the afternoon," Corrin replied. Oh dear. That probably meant he had woken up earlier. "There was a signal flare from one of the towns that we had to deal with at noon, we'd have come sooner otherwise."
"Koros," Leo explained shortly when Xander sent him a questioning look. "The most I've seen in a while, they took exception to the lighthouse in that town almost being finished. It is finished now, and we cleared the area."
"Any casualties?" Xander asked.
Leo fiddled with his collar. "A few of the villagers were killed before we got there, several more injured, but we brought Flora and Felicia, so those who were injured are now stable. Azura helped as healing as well."
"As much as I could," the songstress confirmed.
Lináyása huffed a tired sigh. "At least not too many people where hurt."
"In any case, that's water under the bridge at this point." Leo waved a hand. "How are you feeling, Xander?"
"Better than I was yesterday," the Crown Prince admitted. "Still tired and I'm not going to be getting out of bed today most likely, but improvement is good."
"Glad to hear it." Corrin gave a relieved smile. "This was just so sudden..."
"Sickness generally is," Azura quipped before smiling at Linayasa. "Thank you for staying in here with him."
