Chapter 4: Open Fields

It had been 3 days since Monika had left, you had not done much, mostly working on little projects, you did go out drinking with Maxime and others, you met Alexsandr or tachanka, Lere or Finka, and Jordan or Thermite, they were all pretty cool, even though you went with them you didn't drink at all because by the time you left you were forced to drive everyone home, once you did arrive home Dominic informed everyone that Monika should be back by 5:00 pm the next day. Dominic told you a little about the mission Monika was on. It was nothing serious, just a little recon, but you still felt worried for some reason, but you brushed it off because you knew she'd be fine. You decided after Dominic had told you that you would head to sleep.

You woke up the next morning and heard chatter from the main room and you got changed and went to see what was up. You walked into the room and saw Elias, Ela, Dominic, and another girl you had not met yet, talking at the table, you walked past them to grab a water from the fridge, and you heard them talking from a distance but you made out what you could

"I heard someone got Injured on the mission" you heard Ela say which caused you to listen more carefully

"Oh no, you don't think it's Monika do you?" Elias asked but you didn't hear a response

"I don't know for sure, but I sure hope not," Ela said which got you a little worried, so you decided to give Monika a text

"Hey, I heard that someone got hurt on your mission, are you ok?" you sent hopefully waiting for a response. You grabbed your water and headed back to your room, you were working on a project in your room when you heard your phone, you instantly jumped up and checked your phone and saw two texts, one from Monika and one from your mom, you checked Monika's first

"Yeah, I'm fine, just a few bruises, Glaz got injured. We weren't expecting them to ambush us," she sent and you breathed a sigh of relief

"That's good, I was praying that it wasn't you, I hope glaz recovers. And, weirdly, they ambushed you, It's like they knew you were there" you sent and she immediately responded

"How sweet, from what I hear Glaz should be fine and we should be back in about an hour or so" she sent back and you checked your watch and saw it was only noon, she was going to be back 4 hours early.

You spent that next hour doing whatever you could to keep you entertained, you spent some time working on a small project then you got bored and decided to read, the book you were reading was called Red Wings Cross, it was about a lone warrior who was paid to kill, but one day he was paid to protect the princess and during his stay, he and the princess fell in love, it was a book you found at a store when you went to the mall with the rest of GSG9, you haven't touched it until now, so you decided to take some time to read.

You were completely into the book and you didn't even realise what time it was when you checked your watch and saw what time it was, Monika was going to be home any second now, as you were putting your book away you heard a knock on the door of your room, you got up and went toward the door when you opened it and saw Monika, she waved then spoke

"I'm back," she said and you smiled

"Welcome back," you said quietly which cause her to smile

"What have you been doing these past couple of days?" she asked before walking into your room and closing the door behind her. She then sat down on your bed

"Well when you left I went to help Emma with her stuff, I was there a couple of hours and then we got it done and she hugged me, and that caught me off guard," you said and Monika tilted her head

"Then I went out drinking with Maxime, Alex, Jordan, and Lera. I didn't drink anything though because I knew I was going to be driving them back" you said and Monika laughed
