The next time I open my eyes, it's to beeping machines and the smell of rubbing alcohol in the air. A bright light stings my eyes overheard. It's the hospital. I crane my neck to observe my surroundings but a pain stings the back of my neck as I try to. Mission not accomplished.

I flick my eyes to my body where I lay in a hospital gown with bandages surrounding both of my feet. My feet are propped up onto a pillow. Pain tingles across my body as if someone is scratching it with a rake. My throat is parched and dry. I press the red button near my hand to alert a nurse.

Moments later, a nurse appears. "Hi, sweetie, how can I help you?"

"W-w-a-a-t-e-r-r," I manage to stutter out. My lips were swollen and wouldn't move at the same pace as usual.

"Okay, mama, let me get that for you," the nurse says as she walks over to the water bottles on the table. She picks one up for me and walks back. I tilt my head and she slowly pours sips into my mouth.

"E-enough," I mumble, as I am done drinking water.

"Okay, dear, anything else?" she asks politely.

"W-where is e-everyone? W-where am I? W-w-why am I here?" I throw questions at her.

"Honey, you got here an two hours ago, bruised, swollen, and your forehead was bleeding like. You had a very bad accident. Luckily, your life wasn't in danger and the doctor fixed you right back up. Your parents came to check up on you. Your dad will be staying here with you tonight and everyone else went home," she explains tediously.

"Oh o-okay," I reply and try to smile but I only bring more pain upon myself.

"We already fed you your food in liquids though, through a feeding tube down your throat, so it's probably why you don't feel hungry, so just get some rest. You may likely be here for a week at minimum," she says.

"T-thank you-u," I answer. "I-I'm g-going to b-be o-okay, right?"

She gives a smile that is like a truth hiding behind a lie, "Yes, honey, you'll be okay. Just don't think and rest." The audacity of this woman! I was on the brink of death and she's telling me to not think! Hello, lady? I could've died.

Despite what I'm thinking, I say, "Ok," and close my eyes. I slowly drift away when I remember there was a shadow walking towards me right after the accident. Who could that have been? "Nurse..wait."

"Yes?" she turns and raises a brow.

"Who was the person who ran into me? Who got out of the car and walked towards me?" I questioned.

"Well, maybe you know the details, but they did catch the guy who ran into you and he's charged with unintentional manslaughter. . So he just has to pay a fine for that. I forget the name, let me ask," she walks out quickly, to the register I presume.

A few minutes later, she walks back in and says, "Okay, so the guy who ran into you was Ahmed Castella, apparently." Ahmed Castella? Ran into me?! It wasn't that dark!!! And it's not like he was drunk driving, was it intentional? Maybe to get back at me for all the commotion I caused in school for him? Did he really run into me because of all that?

"Oh. My. God. It's him," I mumble.

"What? Did you say something?" the nurse asks.

"N-no, I j-just want t-to get some rest," I reply.

The nurse nods, turns the overhead light off, puts on the dim lamp light, and walks out. The dim light gets the melatonin in my head activated, which tells my brain to go to sleep, causing me to drift off.
