"What now?" Natasha was out with Wanda which left you alone with Tony and Steve. Your patience for the pair was already growing thin but you didn't want to be alone. You knew you would just sit in bed watching the clock until Natasha got home and you couldn't think of a better way to pass the time.
"You should prank Nat!" Tony seemed so pleased with his idea, even more when Steve nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, Nat can be too serious and focused. Nothing like a good prank to loosen her up."
"That sounds like an awful idea," You shook your head at the two men.
"Give me one good reason why it's a bad idea."
"She's an ex-assassin. I'd have to sleep with one eye open for the rest of my life!" Tony and Steve both laughed but you were adamant on you pranking your girlfriend, "Plus how could I even prank her?"
"Hmm," Tony and Steve turned away from you whispering ideas back and forth before finally deciding on one.
"Fake break up with Nat," Your eyes went wide, you'd never do that to Natasha.
"No way, that's mean," You protested and went to leave until Steve stopped you, grabbing a hold of your arm.
"Come on Y/N, we thought you were cool," You furrowed your eyebrows.
"I don't want to hurt Nat."
"It's fake so it won't hurt her. Don't be so lame," That was the final straw which pushed you to agree with their plan.
The more they talked about it and went over it with you the more you warmed up to the idea. You weren't thinking logically, all you could think about was your 'friends' in high school talking about how lame you were and that you never did anything fun. That's what fueled you to go along with this prank. Beside what could go wrong?

"Detka," Natasha said softly when she entered your shared room, "I missed you," Natasha leaned in to kiss you but frowned when you turned your head giving her your cheek instead.
"We need to talk Natasha," She cringed when you didn't use a nickname like you always do.
You both sat on the edge of the bed. You took a hold of her hands, looking at her trying to keep a serious face. You were also trying not to glance at Tony and Steve as they were hiding watching their plan unfold.
"I think we should take a break," You quickly looked away not wanting to see her reaction. Though you felt it. Natasha's body tensed as she took her hands out of yours.
You looked up, your eyes meeting Natasha's emotionless stare and that's the moment you knew you had messed up. You felt your heart beat faster as everything that happened afterwards became a blur. You didn't even get to tell Natasha it wasn't real before Tony and Steve burst out from their hiding spot laughing.
