Chapter 5: The Answer

Alex woke up the next morning, she thought that she's at her home, but then she realized that she's at the school in the Forbidden Forest. Yeah, the dorm's bed isn't as comfy as she had at home (but boi, it's a spring bed) but she felt more comfortable sleeping there than at home.

Alex look around the room before getting off her bed, she see Sasha, she already dropped her blanket to the floor and her feet were on her pillow. Alex open the curtains and realized that the sky is still dark. Ave promised them she'll wake them up early before their parents woke up so they can go home and pretend nothing is happening but it seems that Alex woke up too early.

A few moments later, the door creaks open, and Alex can see such a bright light coming from the door so she can't see who's coming. When Alex can finally adjust her eyes, she can finally see that it's Ave who's standing outside of the door.

"Oh, awake already? I was about to wake you up..." Ave said. So she didn't forget her promise.

Ave come into the room, approaching Sasha's bed. She then gently shook Sasha awake. Alex know Sasha more than anyone in this world (of course except George) and she know that Sasha is a heavy sleeper, she often come late to school because of waking up issues and it's not new, so Alex isn't surprised if Ave needs a while to wake Sasha up but surprisingly, Sasha easily wake up after Ave shook her a few times.

"C'mon, you guys need to eat before going back" Ave said as she left the room.

Alex and Sasha rushed down the stairs. Soon, a strong smell of grilled sausages hit their noses. Both  of them hurried to the kitchen to found Ave is cooking some sausages on the grill. Rahim is there too, he's helping Ave out. Sasha and Alex sit on the long dining table. When it's only both of them there, the table looks bigger (yeah, when everyone is there the table feels smaller).

None of the other hybrids are awake yet, so Alex assumed that they never wake up this early (it's two in the morning). So it's just four of them, Ave, Rahim, Sasha, and her.

Ave look at the little bean Rahim who is struggling to carry a stack of plate (especially because he only got one hand). Alex decide to talk with the kid.

"Hey, Rahim?"

"Yes, Alex?"

"Do you wanna go home too?"

"Huh? Yeah!"

"Why? You live alone, so you perhaps you can stay here longer, I suppose?"

"You're right, but Rahim need to clean the floor."

"If I'm you, I'll stay her much more longer."

"Rahim get it, Alex. But Rahim still have a lot of duty to do, what if there is a burglar trying to enter Rahim's house? Rahim hate burglars! Rahim kill one once..."

"Wow, you're amazing, Rahim."

"Thank you, Alex."

Alex wasn't lying, she did think that he's amazing, he never forget his responsibility, he even choose to stay on his own than with the hybrids when Alex know that he's probably happier with the hybrids than alone, especially because Alex never visit him before because her mom told her that the house is haunted and she believe in that story for years, never knowing that it was never haunted, instead a lonely boy lives there. Ugh, do her mom always know about Rahim? Or not? If she know he lives there from the beginning, Alex will hate her mom more now. But if she never knows and just thought it's an actual haunted house then she can blame her.

Ah yes, time is ticking quickly, Alex and Sasha already finished their breakfast and is now heading home. Before that, Ave already tell another story about them, she said that they usually preparing meals together, if someone doesn't come to help, they will not get any meal because lazy person never deserves a treat. This reminds Alex of the old days again when she used to help her mom preparing everyday meals.
