The Future Together

Chapter 3

We rush through the halls as I explain what happened while we look for Addie.

"We will find her. I'm sure she's just here somewhere" Alex says

We spot Laura and David talking to each other at the side. We approach them as they bow and curtsy.

"We need your help. Addie's missing, could you both help us search for her?" I say as they both nod and we all split up as we call out her name.

"Amelia, what is going on?" Victoria asks as she approches me with Edward following right behind her.

"Addie's missing" I say and soon we are all walking around trying to find her.

Where could she be? She couldn't have been kidnapped with all the security, right? I try to dismiss all thoughts as a few tears cloud my vision and I hastily wipe them away.

Hall after hall, all I hear are the echoes of her name being called around the palace.

-----Alex' POV-----

I decided to check the gardens as I ran out calling her. I check around and as I turn, I spot her seated at a corner, with her hands wrapped around her legs. There's a big plant covering her at first glance. I ran to her and kneeled in front of  her.

"We've been looking everywhere for you" I say as I hug her "your mother is very worried about you. What are you doing here?"

"I'm scared" she softly replies.

"Because of school?" I ask as she nods.

"There's nothing to be afraid of, you will have fun and meet new friends. There is nothing scarry, I promise" I say as she looks down on the floor.

"How about after your classes, Mommy and I will pick you up and we can go for some ice cream?" I ask as she looks up at me and smiles.

"Could I get sprinkles with it?" She asks as I nod with a chuckle as she gets up with a smile.

I get up as I carry her as we head back inside. Not long after we entered I spot Amelia as she spots us as well and runs over.

"You're alright" Amelia says as she hugs and kisses Adelaide "You got us worried. I didn't know where you went"

"I'm sorry. I was scared" Addie says

"It's alright, darling. Just promise me you won't do that again" Amelia says as Addie nods.

"I promise" she says as Amelia kisses her once more.

"Addie!" Father says as both he and Mother approach us.

After a few minutes of talking, it was time to get ready or else we would be late.

"Addie, let's get you ready" Amelia says

-----Amelia's POV-----

I stand on the side with Victoria beside me, as Addie, Edward and Alex are talking to each other, when I notice the time.

"Addie, let's get you ready for school" I say as I begin to approach them, when I suddenly felt dizzy.

I slightly stumbled as I reach for the table at the side.

"Amelia!" Victoria and Alex call out as Victoria approaches me.

"Perhaps you should take a seat first, too much stress isn't healthy. I'll get Adelaide ready" Victoria says as she carries Adelaide. She and Edward walk towards Addie's room as Alex approaches me.

We silently walk towards our room and he guides me towards the couch. While we wait for Addie, Alex explains how he found her.

Just as Alex finished talking, the door is opened wide as Addie enters our room.

"Are you ready to go?" I ask her as she walks over to us and nods.

We get up from the couch and walked towards the main entrance, where Victoria and Edward were waiting.

.....A Few Minutes Later.....

We arrive just on time and we get down from the car as we are greeted by the school head.

"Good Morning Your Royal Highnesses" she says as she curtsys as we both greet her as well.

"You must be Adelaide" the school head says as Addie nods and they both shake hands.

One of the things we requested when we enrolled Addie, was for the school to treat her just like all the other children. Aside from that, we also requested that they do not use her title when addressing her.

"We are very happy to have you here Adelaide. I'm sure your classmates are excited to meet you" she says before turning to us "Ma'am, Sir, I hope you both understand, but classes are about to begin any moment now"

"Yes, of course. We will be going now" I say as I crouch down to Addie's level.

"Daddy and I will pick you up later. You go and have fun alright?" I say as she nods and I hug and kiss her before I get up as Alex does the same.

We wave at Addie as she enters the classroom and we thank the school head before walking out towards the car.

We get in and I look out the window as we begin the drive towards our engagement for today.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even hear Alex calling me, until he intertwined our hands together, causing me to look up at him.

"She will be fine" he says "Trust me, I went to school there, there's nothing to be worried about"

"Unless they've already changed. It has been quite some time" he mutters as I hit him on the arm and he just laughs.

"I'm kidding. You have already seen the place, and even learned how they operate. She will be fine" he says as I nod.
