Chapter 8

.....The Next Day.....

-----Amelia's POV-----

"I will allow you to return home today as long as you follow all the instructions given. Should there be any questions or concerns just call me" Dr. Anderson says as we nod and thank her before she leaves the room.

A knock sounds as Laura enters the room with the clothes that I will be wearing due to the press waiting outside.

"Your outfit is here. I suggest you start getting ready as we need to do a quick briefing before you both exit" Laura says as we nod and Alex gets up.

"I'll check to see if we can get going as soon as you're done" Alex says as I nod and he leaves the room as I start to get ready.

We had to leave as soon as possible to be able to get to the palace before Addie returns from school.

Sophia and Grey were currently going around the kingdom as Sophia wanted to show him certain places around.

....A Few Minutes Later....

We had to answer a few questions for the press before we got to leave. Luckily, we still got to arrive first.

Edward picked her up from school while Victoria waited for us in the palace.

We were seated in one of the sitting rooms when the door opened and Edward and Addie walked in.

Her smile grew wide as she noticed me and ran over before hugging me as I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her as Edward sat beside Victoria.

"Mommy can Julia come here on Saturday?" She asks as she sits down between Alex and I.

Alex and I decided last night to return to our home tomorrow. Sophia and Grey will be staying with us until they leave on Thursday.

I turn to Alex, silently asking if we should allow her to come over. We barely invited anyone in our home, it is usually just our closest friends and family. Alex nods as I respond to Addie.

"We will be going back home tomorrow, if her parents allow her to go there, then Daddy and I are fine with that" she nods as we talk with Victoria and Edward for a bit before we had lunch.

.....A Few Hours Later.....

We were walking back towards Addie's room with Addie walking a few steps ahead of us.

She opens the door and enters her room, walking over to her toys scattered on the floor.

We watch her play with her toys for a few seconds before Alec turns towards me.

"Should we tell her now?" He quietly asks as I nod and we walk over to her.

"Addie, Mommy and I need to tell you something" Alex says as we take a seat beside her. She places down her toys and looks at Alex and I as she waits for us to speak.

I don't worry much about her not wanting a new sibling, seeing as 'a sister or brother' was part of her Christmas list a few months ago. She was rather disappointed to find no new sibling in her stockings on Christmas day.

"Addie, we have wonderful news. Remember you said you wanted a sister or brother?" I ask as she nods.

'"Well, you will be having one in a few months" I say as she smiles and begins to jump around while asking questions.

"Is it a girl or boy?" She eagerly asks

"We don't know yet, darling. We just have to wait and see" Alex says as she nods before asking another question.

......The Next Day.....

"Addie is your bag ready?" I ask as I enter her room.

"Yes, Mommy" she says walking towards me.

"Why don't you go to Daddy? He is at the entrance with Grandma and Grandpa" I say as she nods and skips off while I return to Alex and I's room.

I grab my bag and make sure we don't leave anything as I check Addie's room once more before heading towards the entrance.

Once I reach the entrance I find Addie standing beside Alex while she talks to Victoria and Edward as Alex notices me arrive.

We say goodbye to Victoria and Edward before entering the waiting car.

.....A Few Weeks Later.....

Tomorrow is the day of the ball. The representatives of the different countries have been arriving over the course of the week.

Today we will be welcoming another set of guests who are arriving in a few hours.

I fix my hair while I wait for Alex to finish in the bathroom before we head down to breakfast.

After a few more minutes of waiting, he comes out in a suit as I smile at him. I decided to leave my fascinator first in the room as I stood up from my seat and glanced at the time.

"That's odd" I say as Alex turns towards me with a questioning look.

"What's odd?" He asks while fixing himself in front of the mirror.

"It seems Addie's still asleep. I'll go and wake her. It's rather late for her not to barge in here yet" I say as he chuckles and nods as I walk out of our room.

I quietly enter Addie's room to see her still in bed. I approach her and take a seat at the side of her bed.

"Addie, it's time to get up. You will be late for school" I say as I gently wake her up.

She stirs and faces me as she wraps the blanket around herself tighter. She did not look well as I placed my hand on her forehead and she was hot.

I quickly grabbed a thermometer and it confirmed my suspicion. She has a fever.

"I will be back. You just stay in bed alright?" I say as she nods and I ran to our room.

"Is everything alright?" Alex asks as I open the door to our room just as he was about to head out.

"Addie is sick"
