Thomas's Pov:
Alby lay before him knocked out and looking a bloody mess. Minho wasn't kidding when he said they were screwed. He watched him comfort the shaking girl trying to soothe away her worries. Thomas examined the unconscious Alby and saw the giant welt in his head along with the small pool of blood on his faded yellow shirt."What happened to him?"
"What does it look like? He got stung."
"...What happened to his head?"
"I did what I had to do."
Thomas had noticed how Minho's voice went deeper and darker as he spoke. (Y/n) moved out of his arms and sat up along with Minho who knelt his elbows on his knees. She stared blankly at Thomas her pupils dilated and from that alone he knew she wasn't present but running around inside her head. He knew a night in the maze was bad but if (Y/n) was panicking this much and she'd already done the impossible then they were royally screwed. The harrowing screech of a griever could be heard across the maze which was once again changing. They had to move. Now.
Minho whimpered as he tried to get his tired limbs to stand falling forward a few steps. Thomas stayed over Alby trying to find the best way to move him. There was a lot of the commander and he knew he'd never be able to lift him himself. He didn't know the strengths of the (h/c) sitting across from him but he knew Minho's strength would be enough to help him carry their commander.
"Alright help me get him up."
The runner kept walking forward in a daze.
"We gotta go, the maze is already changing!"
He kept walking. Thomas didn't know him well or at all really but he knew this wasn't like him. He didn't seem like the type to give up.
"Hey Minho!"
He stopped. Almost threateningly he stood facing away from the three. The maze let out a grumble enhancing Thomas's worry.
"We can't just leave him here..."
The keeper turned to look at the two boys on the floor. Thomas noticed that (Y/n) had finally looked up and was now watching her friend. He couldn't gather what she was feeling by reading her face. It was as revealing as a stone.
...Time Skip...
(Y/n's) Pov:
The maze changed people. It's what it was designed to do she knew it in her heart. Not for the good but for the bad. She'd never be the same person she was before the first night and she'd come out again a completely different person. That's what scared her. There were 4 of them, that would grab the grievers attention fast. The concrete walls wouldn't protect them from in here. Minho had snapped out of it and finally listened to Thomas helping lift Alby off the ground. She couldn't provide them any assistance without getting in the way so she decided to map out a route and follow it. They'd gotten stuck in sector 3 which last she checked didn't have any griever problems. (Y/n) desperately hoped that was the case. The sun was dangerously low in the sky and the maze was growing dark. The shadows were no longer chased away leaving an eerie look across the floors mixed with the sounds of the maze changing and the cicadas humming. (Y/n) was walking fast ahead of the two boys looking out for any potential danger in their path. Minho and Thomas were groaning and grunting which was surely going to attract attention.
"Come on."
Minho was trying to get Thomas to keep up with his pace but the scrawny boy was struggling. (Y/n's) head poked around the corned and her braid hung down below. He whole body emerged and stood in the middle of the path. Looking in front and behind she waved her hand at Minho and Thomas signalling the coast was clear. Walking out into the centre of the path the keepers grip on Alby started to slip.

FanfictionPeace is a funny thing. It is said that no man can ever truly find peace until death is upon him. Seeing as (Y/n) wasn't a man she really didn't have an excuse to not go out and find it. But what if the answer had been running by her side all along...
