*skip to a week before school

{Evelyn's Pov}
I've met a few friends so far. My favorite is definitely Mak. We are going to attend the same school.

School starts in a week and me and Mak decided we would go to the beach today. We've gotten to be good friends.

We pack up and I'm wearing my Aqua bikini and slip on some high-wasted sorts and a peach crop top. Jackson agreed to drive us since we don't have our license yet. My birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I turned 15.

Me Mak and a few other girls I became friends with over the summer went to Shakalaka to celebrate.

It's not too long of a drive to the beach so soon we arrive and unpack. Me and Mak decide to tan and listen to music. My earbuds start playing When I See You Again by Wiz Khalifa .

I'm about to doze off when a volleyball lands next to my head. Me and Mak get up and I throw it in the direction it came.

A tall guy with a blonde quiff walks up and asks if we want to join their game of volley ball. I have to admit he's really attractive, and to make it better he's not wearing a shirt.

Mak says "Sure Matthew" I guess she knows him. On our way over she whispers to me telling me he's a senior and is a HUGE player. I decide to stay away from him when school starts.

Matt- as he prefers for us to call him- and another guy named Spencer are team captains. Matt picks first

"I pick you" he says pointing at me. I'm freaking out but then remember he's a player. They pick back and forth until everyone has been picked. Me and Mak are on different teams.

I've only played volleyball a few times, so I'm nervous to see how this goes. Before we start Matt says "I never caught your name.?"

"Evelyn Bradley, but most people call me Eve" I reply

"How 'bout I call you Bradley" he smirks. I just shake my head.

At the end of the game our team won. I have to say I did pretty good. Soon me and Mak leave. She invited me to spend the night so Jackson drives us to her house. In the drive over we get on the topic of Matthew.

"I know you like him" she says. I tell her my plan to ignore him because I know he's the "school bad boy"

She tells me that's a good idea but I'm definitely his next victim. She tells me how he's never had a girlfriend for more than a week and that he uses girls for sex.

When we get to her house we put on pajamas and decide to watch Netflix. "You're really good at volleyball. You should try out for the school team." She says.

I tell her I'll think about it and before I can give her a sure answer, I fall asleep.
