【BAD LUCK】
All Lina ever wanted was to make a name for herself. To be her own person. She had spent her whole life trying, but sadly, she couldn't seem to do it. She just couldn't seem to escape the shadows of the people around her.
She wasn't Catalina, she was Catwoman's daughter. Or Grey Claw's evil sister. Or The Joker's 'lapdog'. She wasn't Wildcat. She was Catgirl. She was just one of the Beasts of Gotham. And she didn't know how much longer she could take it.
A sharp pain brought her out of her thoughts, and she realised that in her frustration she had bit her lip. She swiped her tongue over the wound, noticing a familiar metallic taste lingering in her mouth. Lina looked into the reflection of the window she was propped up against, and to her dismay, her bottom lip was painted crimson and slowly swelling.
"Shit." She sighed. She hated cutting her lips. To Lina, it was the worst injury you could get. You can't talk without splitting the cut, or eat anything without it stinging. Brushing your teeth split and stung the cut. It's something that takes a second to happen, but an eternity to heal. Cutting your lip was one of those rare instances that reminded Lina the most painful things come in the most mundane packages.
"What?" A deep voice called from across the room, alert at the sound of her distress.
"Nothing." She replied.
He came up behind her, pressing his broad chest against her back. She felt the coldness of his helmet brush against her neck as he leaned down, running his fingers along the neckline of her black catsuit, playing with the white fur lining. Lina felt herself let go, melting into his warmth as he surrounded her completely.
"Jason..." She mumbled.
"Hmm?" He grunted, but Lina never finished her sentence.
She began to ask a question she could never finish. Lina knew what she wanted. She wanted to kiss him. But Jason didn't do kisses. She could kiss him through his helmet as she had done so many times before, but she made no move to. She couldn't. She wanted to feel him, and feeling nothing would be better than getting a taste of what she could never have.
"Turn around." He said huskily in her ear.
She turned in his embrace, looking up at him. In the moonlight she was a fallen star, hair shining whiter than angel feathers. She was so beautiful, he thought. And she loved me.
Lina loved him. She loved him so much her toes curled and her heart fluttered. She found herself giddily grinning at random moments, and purposefully thinking about him in others. He consumed her completely. Lina loved Jason like the sun loved the moon - forever chasing something that she always needed, but could never touch.
