"Is it true there's a rat?" Lina looked up at from her spot on the floor, playing with the stuffed toys Leon had stolen for her.

Kace's office was hardy a place for a child - but that had never bothered her before. The stained walls and chipped floors were rather homey.

"Yeah." Kace replied bluntly, not looking up from his work.

"What are you gonna do when you catch them?" The snow-haired girl pestered him.

"I don't know." He told her.

"Do you already know who it is?" For every answer he gave her, she had another question ready.

"Yeah." Kace grinded his teeth, trying not to lose his temper with her. She was only questioning him because she was curious - too young to understand she shouldn't be curious about these things.

"I think you should kill them." She stated, going back to playing with her toys.

"What?" He whispered, startled. Finally, he looked down at her, jolted out of his concentration.

"I read that they used to hang traitors." Lina mentioned nonchalantly. Since when did she read? He thought.

"Where?" Kace asked her.

"Well- I didn't read it but Marcus did and told me-"

"Don't listen to Marcus. Don't listen to anyone. Except Leon."

"Not even you?"

"Not even me."

"Hmph. I'll still listen to you. You're the bestest person I know." She declared in her childlike fashion, and went back to her toys.

"What about Leon?" The man asked with a grin - well, as big as a grin could get for Kace.

"Leon's a loser. He's always telling me to go away. 'Get outta here, I need my privacy' and 'Leave me alone, I got stuff to do.' All he does is go on his phone anyway. He's so annoying." Kace thought as much. The boy had a good heart, but was too obvious. It was a wonder a girl as smart as Lina hadn't caught on.

There was a pause of silence. "I'm not gonna kill them."

"Hm?" Lina looked up at him, her thoughts elsewhere.

"I'm not gonna kill the rat." He repeated himself.

"Oh. Why not?" She asked innocently.
