- Y/N POV -

The Emerald Palace is nothing less than Pekkas pride and joy, which is why his main office is located there. Not that I'm complaining about that. At least it's not the Sweet Shop. Instead of going through a window like I usually do, I just stroll right up to the front door. The bouncers recognize me on sight and let me in without any delay. One the perks of being one of Rollins' most valuable investments.

I weave my way through the maze of people, trying to get from point A to point B without any interaction whatsoever. The amount of green in this building was a little frightening. Thankfully, luck is on my side today and I'm able to get through without anyone noticing me.

Pekkas office was on the second floor, overlooking the gambling hall. However, the entrance is away from the prying eyes of the masses, so the only people in the hallway are the two Dime Lions grunts stationed outside the door of his office. I knock twice on the door before a faint "come in," is heard and I step inside.

A large window covers almost the whole wall and overlooks the gambling hall.

"Ah, Y/N. Take a seat." Pekka says, gesturing to the chair across from him at his desk. "What information do you have for me tonight?"

I recite everything I learned from my small mission, making sure to not leave a single detail out. Even if it wasn't much. I see his eyes widen with greed when I mention the thirty million kruge, but he quickly covers it up and returns to his neutral expression. When I finish, he sighs, seemingly lost in thought.

"That is quite the job..." His voice trails off and he stands, walking over to the window. "This Brekker boy won't be able to pull this off on his own-"

"He'll have a crew," I say, cutting him off. He turns to me, and I take his raised brow as an invitation to continue. "It won't be large, maybe around six to seven people. And it would be people he trusts, or at least has a reason to trust."

Pekka turns his gaze back to the window. "Are you still in contact with his Wraith?"

I freeze. How did he know I was friends with Inej?

"Oh don't look so surprised. You weren't very subtle when you snuck out to speak to her. Now, answer the question."

"Yes." I simply state, trying to keep the shake from my voice.

"No doubt that he needs him for this job to work. So get in contact with her. Meet up. And do whatever you need to do to be a part of that crew. Go with them and bring back whatever it is Jan Van Eck is willing to pay so much for. Then bring it to me. Whatever it is, it must be valuable enough for someone to pay more than thirty million. Got it?"

I sigh and nod my head. There wasn't a way I was going to get out of this. I could tell from the look in his eye that he already had this all figured out.

"Good. Now get to work."

- Inej POV -
(bet you weren't expecting this one)

"Inej," Kaz acknowledges me as I climb through the window. He didn't even look up.

"What's the problem boss?" I ask as I perch on the windowsill of his office. "The problem is that you can't do a part of this job by yourself." He states simply. Why did he always have to be so vague about this sort of thing?

"Don't worry. You'll think of another way around it. You always do." I turn my gaze to the bustling streets of the Barrel.

"That's the problem," he leans back in his chair and runs a hand through his hair. "There isn't another way around it. For this to work, we need to have another person. And none of the spiders Haskell has will do the job right."
