Tears roll down my face. That was so sweet. I can't function. I can't deal with this. I don't say anything. Neither does he.
After a moment of silence he says something.
"I know about Augustus." He whispers.
"What?! How do you-" I panic because I want Josh. More than ever. I feel ashamed about the fact Augustus is seeing my feelings for Josh.
"I know about him. Because he was my old best friend. Back in elementary. But, when he got cancer, we stop being friends. I never knew why because he would never say. I found out about the cancer, and we became close but not as close as we once were. But before he died, he told me about you. He said it would be fine if I fell in love with you because everyone does. He loves you." Josh puts his arm on the stirring wheel.
"Well, he loved me."
"No! Right now he loves you deeply. Love never stops. Not the real kind."
Right now I'm crying into Josh's flannel shirt.
"This isn't why I brought you here. I didn't want it to be a sad time. I wanted it to be fun. The way Augustus would want it. Follow me." He gets out of the truck and I follow him.
