📍 Camelot
⏳ April, 505 AD
I sprinted out of the castle once I'd searched everywhere inside and let my eyes dart around the courtyard as I looked for the great Sorcery Cop, Aredian. The cardio he was forcing me to do in my quest to find him is sure to strengthen my heart and burn enough calories for a whole month; but the stress on my mind is a whole different thing. I can't keep him from hurting people and/or from somehow determining that Merlin has magic if I can't find him!
Once I was sure that the Magic-Party-Pooper wasn't around, I took off running once more, this time towards the lower town. He certainly seemed happy to stalk people yesterday. And I'm sure that the busy atmosphere makes it easy to kidnap people to use as vampire food.
I jogged while weaving in between humans and vendor stands, my eyes still rapidly scanning my environment for any signs of Aredian. I stopped to ask Glynn – the barber – and he pointed me in the direction of the apothecary, stating that he had seen Dr. Magic-Wand-Breaker go inside. So I thanked him and raced towards that shop.
"Hello, sir," I greeted Jerome – the owner – as I entered. "I'm looking for the Witch-finder."
The elderly man seemed to tense up, "W-why would he be here, m-my Lady?"
I tilted my head, wondering why he seemed nervous. "Glynn said that he saw him come in here..."
"Oh! Yes! He came to get... some... ointment for a sore," Jerome responded. Almost hesitantly. But I suppose an apothecary is a person of suspicion, since their practice could easily cross over into witchcraft. I guess Aredian must've interrogated him while getting his ointment.
So I decided to ignore his demeanour as I asked, "D'ya know where he went next?" Jerome stiffly shook his head. "All right," I sighed, "thanks." And with that, I ran out of the shop and started searching once more.
An hour must have gone by and I still couldn't find Aredian; so I gave up and decided to run back to the castle, figuring that he might have returned.
I grinned at the sight of two cute cargo donkeys that were parked in the courtyard as I ran by them and slowed down a little to stare for a moment.
Then I gasped when I collided with something sturdy and two strong arms were quick to steady me, which I might've frowned at if I hadn't heard a cute chuckle that let me know it was Arthur. I instantly smiled.
"Are you all right?" he asked with an amused look.
"Yeah, sorry," I responded sheepishly. "I was lookin' for Aredian and thought I'd check with the asses," I added and then burst out laughing at my own joke.
Much to my relief, he laughed as well, producing a sound that could've cured the depression I had when I was younger.
"He just called for an audience with the King, I am heading that way," he then said and gallantly offered me his arm. "May I escort you?"
