Seventeen years go by. Now you're twenty-eight years old and you're about to get a job. It'll be at Monsters Inc. You'll be taking up a job as a receptionist. You'll be in for a surprise though once you find out who else works there. The CEO of the place is Henry J. Waternoose.

Things are good for you now. You're still a single woman however. Your younger sister Judy is finishing up her last month in college, so she's doing great. She's twenty-four years old now. She and her friend Celia Mae both.

Jill is also single, but has been chatting online with someone recently. She told you he works at Monsters Inc. She hasn't told you who it was, but let's just say she told you that you guys knew him for several years.

Sadly, your brother Markus died in a car accident two years ago. He was on his way to work, which he had predicted. A music store. He owned it. But a truck came at him and slammed into him, making his car drive to an edge of the bridge just out of the city.

He went flying out and instead of hitting the water, hit the bottom of the bridge beneath. So it was pretty tragic. He fell to his death. You miss him badly. He had unfortunately left three kids behind. Two sons and a daughter. Greg, Jacob and Annie.

His widow, your sister-in-law Halle is raising all of them on her own now and still doesn't want to be with anyone at the moment after losing Marcus. You can't even listen to that Finch song Letters to You anymore without nearly crying because it reminded you of your brother. And when he got you into that song. Part of the lyrics made sense to you, now.

You own his music store now since he left it to you, but it wasn't enough to make a living. You'll make more at Monsters Inc. You'll be at your store all day on weekends and a couple of hours on some weekdays. So you'll be working quite a bit. Two jobs.

You're driving to your new job in fact. You're in your car and you've got your radio playing Until the Day I Die by Story of the Year. You would listen to that a lot as a kid. After all, you pick up your music taste from your brother. And now you've inherited his music store. Judy actually works there once in a while, too. She'll be working there some more after she finishes up college soon.

You make it and you park right outside. You get out of your car and you use your key to lock it until it makes a little beep. You walk towards the large building and you see the sign. Monsters Incorporated. We Scare Because We Care. You smile and you walk towards the doors.

You head inside and you feel the cool air. You sigh and you smile saying, "That feels so nice. Air conditioning is so expensive now." You hear this, "You can say that again, lady." You look to see a small orange slug like monster man with shaggy orange hair in his face. You smile and you say, "Hi there. I'm new here. I'm here as a receptionist."

He says, "Hey, that's great. What's your name?" You say, "(Y/N) (L/N)." He says, "I'm George Marsh." You shake hands and you say, "It's nice to meet you." He says, "You too. You'll want to meet the lady that holds all the keys to the doors on the scare floor. Roz. And the CEO. Henry J. Waternoose."

You say, "Okay. Thanks, George." He says, "Sulley and Mike are great, too." You say, "That's gr... Wait. Did you say Sulley? As in... James Sullivan?" He says, "That's him." You say, "I see. Well, thanks George." He says, "Don't mention it. Oh and um... Don't mind a guy named Randall."

You say, "Randall? These names sound so familiar." He says, "Randall Boggs?" You say, "Yes! I remember him! I went to school with him and James. James was arrogant back then. Has that famous scarer father who was actually really horrible to him. Randy was a shy and nice kid."

He says, "It's kind of the other way around now. Randall's really bitter, competitive and... vengeful in a way. He hates Sulley. And I mean he'll go all out his way to win against him on the scare floor. Both went to college as scare majors."

You say, "Wow. So Randy's changed and so has James, huh?" He says, "Sounds like you have history with them." You say, "Yeah. We go way back to elementary. Junior High. You name it. At least James stopped messing with me in high school, but continued picking on Randy. If Randy's bitter now, that's probably why."

After a talk with George you say, "Well hey. I'm going to find Roz and Waternoose. I'll see you later, George." He says, "You too." You walk off and you're suddenly face to face with an older crab like man in a suit. His legs are like a crabs and he's got five eyes. He sees you and he smiles and says, "Ahh. Welcome to Monsters Incorporated. I'm Henry J. Waternoose. CEO. You are?"

You smile and you say, "Hello, sir. I'm the new receptionist here. I'm (Y/N) (L/N)." He says, "Yes. I've heard about you. Before we get started, how about you meet some more of our employees. Our top scarers. Especially James P. Sullivan. He's the company's best scarer we have. Randall Boggs is just right below him."

You say, "Sure. I'll... 'meet' them." He says, "I'm sure you'll get along with them just fine. And Mike Wazowski. He assists Sullivan." You say, "I actually knew James and Randall as kids." He says, "I see. Come with me and we'll meet them. I welcome you, Miss. (L/N)." You say, "Thank you, sir." You follow Mr. Waternoose.

(Time skip.)

You've met Roz. The lady who's yellow, has horned glasses, white hair like a troll doll, red shirt, etc. She's the one who holds all the keys to the doors on the scare floor. She sent Mike Wazowski and James Sullivan up to meet you and have them give you a little tour around the place.

Sulley looks at you and says, "What did you say your name was again?" You say, "(Y/N) (L/N). You... went to school with me." He gasps and says, "(Y/N)!" He stops. You stop too. Mike says, "What's going on?" You say, "Yeah. It's me." He says, "H-hey. How are you?" You say, "Alright. Despite having lost my brother a couple years ago, things are alright."

He says, "Your brother died?" You say, "Yeah. Marcus. Long story. It was a tragic car crash. He's got a wife and three kids he left behind. I inherited his CD store." He says, "And your sister?" You say, "Judy's finishing up college. She'll be out soon and working at my CD store. Marcus wanted me to have it. I'm working there and here. Nothing's cheap, anymore."

Mike says, "You're right. It's not. That's why I'm living with Sulley at the moment as his roommate." Sulley sighs and says, "(Y/N)... I'm sorry about how I've been. I was an idiot. And I feel bad for how I treated Randall Boggs. Now I can see why he's so bad, now. I kind of blame myself for that. I have reasons."

You say, "James. I know what it is." He looks at you. You say, "I'll tell you, later. Why I knew for a while. Why I never said anything to you when you kind of insulted me." He says, "Alright. We'll have a sit down and you can tell me."

You say, "How is Randall? Besides hearing about what he's become." Mike says, "Pretty good, I guess. I mean he's gotta be thankful he's one of the top scarers. He may not be in Sulley's place, but he's second on the scoreboard on the scare floor."

You say, "Well hey. That's good. You don't always have to be number one to be a great scarer. I always knew he could do it." Mike says, "Just be careful. He's not what he used to be." You say, "It'll be alright. He's gotta know who I am. We were friends for a long time."

Sulley says, "Come with us. We'll show you around some more. And even the scare floor." You smile and you say, "Alright. Sure, James." He notices something about you and he says, "You know. Now that I come to think of it, you look like you did really well." You say, "Thanks. You too. You're the top scarer and you're doing great so far, right?" He says, "Yeah." You follow them as they show you around the factory.

You're unaware that a certain purple reptile man was eavesdropping and had overheard you. It's Randall Boggs. Randy as you knew him. He got out of camouflage form and he says, "Wait... That was (Y/N)? Yes. I do remember her. At least she had something good to say about me. I wonder if she's figured out that I've been chatting with her friend Jill Mae for several months. I've liked Jill for the longest time." He walks off.
