I drew a picof Mick and you ^^^^ And some crazy guy in a sniper's nest dunno who that is xD
While Davey hops in the abandoned tank that Steve and Captain left behind and maneuvers it haphazardly to wherever the giant war machines belong in base, you find yourself gawking at this new soldier who appeared out of the blue. You have to crane your neck a little to look at him because he was at least a head taller than you and half a head taller than Steve and Captain are.
The soldier is out of uniform and wears a black undershirt, work gloves , boots, and fatigue pants. You're so used to seeing guys your age in uniform, even while they roamed around out of combat in your city, that you are a bit taken aback to be reminded how they looked out of uniform.
The soldier tilts his head a bit, seeming confused at your silence. "Sorry, I kind of just butted in there, didn't I?" he admits with an apologetic smile while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. He has a small white stick that could belong to a lollipop dangling from his lips, and it moves to the corner of his mouth with his smile. "I'll let you get settled; pay no attention to the guy sticking his nose in other people's business."
He turns to leave, which snaps you out of your daze. You quickly step forward to stop him.
"W-Wait!" you call out.
He stops walking and looks over his shoulder at you.
"Sorry for just ... staring at you like a creep. I can't see too well without my glasses," you explain while scratching your neck and gesturing at the shattered lens of the glasses you perched on your shirt. "Also, I had a pretty rough time getting here, so I could still be in a bit of a state of shock."
Shaking off your embarrassment, you try to remember your manners. "I would love to have some help getting settled in if you have the time? I don't even know where to start, but I'm the new doctor, so I thought finding the hospital might be a good idea?"
The soldier's bright grin returns full-force. "I'm happy to be of service, new comrade!" He does a dramatic sweeping bow with one arm folded beneath his chest, the other swept out to the side, and face pointed directly at the ground. He looks up, eyes crinkled with his eager smile. "I'm Mickey, but you can call me Mick. What can I call you, new doctor?"
"Didi," you return his smile as he straightens up and shakes your hand. It feels great to see another friendly face like Davey's. It eases more of the tension from your system.
"Well, Didi the doctor, we can drop your new hire paperwork off at HR and see what they've got planned next for you! Any bags I can carry for ya?" Mick wonders as he looks behind you at the vast, empty desert landscape.
Suddenly recalling the fact that all your belongings were gone forever, you gasp and grab the sides of your face. "Oh no! My birth certificate, transcripts.... All of my important info was in that helicopter! Errrgh, it's probably burnt to a crisp now!" you panic. Once again, you feel like you could absolutely fight either Steve or Captain right now.
As you practically spit flames from your nostrils, one corner of the soldier's smile rises a bit with confusion as he watches you like he wanted to laugh but wasn't sure if he heard you correctly and might offend you.
"Uhh... What was that now?"
"There was an incident with my helicopter," you explain. "I don't have any of my paperwork now."
Mick shrugs. "Eh, they probably wouldn't do much with it except throw it away. Come on, chin up!"
You take a deep breath and nod. "Really?"
