"OW!" You yelled as you roughly landed on your back. Despite a horrible feeling of dizziness, you quickly hauled yourself onto your knees. You grimaced at the irritating feeling of sand getting into a few small scrapes and cuts that currently littered your body. While trying to regain your balance you noticed a few specks of red glistening in the sand. You felt around the area under your nose before examining your hand and finding blood.
"Get up." Your attacker sighed. "We aren't finished yet."
"You're a real asshole yaknow!?" You yelled, managing to shakily get yourself standing.
"You're angry. Good. Come at me." He ordered.
You hesitantly took the prompt and rushed at your opponent. He threw a punch, but you managed to dodge it; however in the process you failed to notice his leg as it swiftly delivered a blow to your stomach. Once again you fell backwards onto the sand.
"You are the worst. Teacher. Ever." You coughed and sputtered, trying to regain control of your breathing after having the wind knocked out of you.
"Give me a break. No need to be over dramatic. I didn't hit you that hard." Jotaro walked over to where you were sitting and offered a hand. "Consider this payback for the stunt you pulled yesterday at the football stadium."
"I already told you I'm sorry about that." You sighed, taking the hand and slowly getting back on your feet.
"Relax, I know you did what you had to. We're doing this because you need to be more prepared." Jotaro watched you carefully, making sure you didn't keel over. He was realizing how he may have overdone it a little while the two of you were sparring.
"Remind me again how you beating me up at the beach for three hours straight helps my preparedness?" You groaned while walking over to where you had left your things.
"Being capable of fighting without a stand is just as important as fighting with one." Jotaro explained. You shuffled through your bag, procuring two water bottles, and tossing one over to Jotaro. "You need to build up your own physical strength given your stand seems to only have the same level of destructive power as you do."
"That's easy for you to say." You wiped some sweat off of your forehead with the back of your hand. "You're built like a demented mix of Hercules and a Michelangelo sculpture. Don't get me started on your stand's physique. Do you even work out?" Jotaro ignored your comments and took a sip of the water you handed him.
"You did well today. You don't have much in terms of offensive technique, but your defensive instinct is promising." You weren't sure how to take the feedback, but it seemed mostly positive. Jotaro's tone never held any clues to what he meant when he said things. You absentmindedly took a sip of your water and immediately spit it out onto the sand as you tasted something metallic. Your nose was still bleeding. Quickly, you tilted your head back and looked for something to help wipe the blood off.
"Don't do that." Jotaro said stiffly, taking a handkerchief from his pocket and handing it to you. "The blood will just flow down your throat."
"Uh...Thanks." You hesitantly took the handkerchief. There were a lot of things about Jotaro that you didn't particularly like, but he was an overall standup guy. Before the training session even began the he made sure you didn't have any remaining injuries from your fight with Radio Star. He stopped when you asked him to, and always made it clear that you always had the option to say no.
While you nursed your bleeding nose, Jotaro's cellphone started ringing. Your mentor mumbled a few things over the line before sighing and shoving the phone back in his pocket.
"I need to go deal with some family matters. Can you make it home by yourself?" Jotaro asked. The two of you were now walking toward a more populated part of the beach.
