A Hell Full Of Angels

Audrey's Shock

I was on my bed with Nova by my side as we were watching a few YouTube Among Us videos they were very funny as our 4th video came to an end Audrey came in looking a little sad. I noticed and paused the YouTubers outro to talk to her and Nova hadn't noticed so was a little confused as to what I was doing until she saw Audrey's face.

"Hey Audrey what's wrong," I said.

She took out her pad.

"Nothing's wrong" Nova readout.

"Yeah you can hide your voice but your face didn't get the memo," I said telling her I wasn't buying it.

Audrey made the slumping shoulders movement that someone does when they sigh but she still made no sound come out and it made me wonder if she could make a sound involuntarily like a scream or something.

Audrey wrote something else down and then showed it to us.

"Something happened but I need to be alone right now however Serah can tell you" I read out as a tear fell from Audrey's eye.

I felt hart broken to see my friend, especially someone like Audrey in this state I gave Nova a look and she nodded as we got off the bed and went to find Serah. We looked around and as we searched I felt like we should have asked Audrey where she was first before we left but we should have let her be alone. We finally found Serah out by the gym as she watched a few girls playing a basketball game we called out to her as we walked up to her and she gave us a weak smile.

"Hey so Audrey came into the room looking sad and said in her own way that something happened and that needs to be alone but that you could tell us what happened," I said as I took a seat next to her.

"Oh well we were in the library and then a few teachers including the head came up to us and said that there was someone on the phone for her we both went and the one on the other end was a doctor telling her that her father had had a heart attack and died," Serah said.

I grabbed Nova's hand at hearing this I was crushed when I lost my dad and I knew how it must feel for Audrey I understood what she was going through and how she felt.

"Are they going to take her to the funeral?" I asked.

"They said they would take her if she wants to go," Serah said.

"Whether she wants to or not she should take the time to go and say goodbye," I said.

"I said relatively the same thing but she hates her father more than you would expect," Serah said.

"But this is different like all things hate doesn't last forever," I said.

"Well I have tried but if you think you have something that may convince her you are welcome to try," Serah said.

"I think I might have a way to convince her," I said as I turned and headed back to the dorm room.

We got back and I told Nova to wait for us in the main room as I talked to her myself Nova was confused but I told her I was going to be talking about something that was better to talk about with those who have or are going through the same thing.

"Hey Audrey," I said as I came into the room closing the door behind me.

Audrey looked up at me from the curled up ball she was in on her bed and I sat next to her.

"Serah told us I know what it feels like I lost my dad too," I said.

Audrey wiped the tears from her eyes and looked at me at her side.

"I think that if the school is willing to take you to the funeral you should go," I said.

Audrey looked at me as if to say why.

"Look when I lost my dad things were pretty much the same I didn't want to go so I didn't, you know maybe all those people cared maybe they didn't, but now, there is not a day that goes by that I don't wish I hadn't taken the chance to say goodbye," I said as I gave her a hug.

Audrey returned the hug and then she begins to shake as she silently cried into my shoulder.

"Hey so how did it go Nova told me everything," Holly said as I left the bedroom.

"Well she is still a little sad and not ready to be around people but she is better but looks like we are going to a funeral so I would practice your sad face if I were you," I said.

"Why practise," Holly said.

"Buasece the dead guy is the one that sent her here meaning he is an asshole" Nova said.

"And you two aren't sad at all," Holly said.

"I'm sad for Audrey, not him," I said.

That night I spent the night on the sofa with Nova while Holly spent the night at Cats where she has been spending most of her free time these days, I'm happy things between them are going alright. I woke up and kissed Nova on the cheek she squirmed and woke up and then she turned and faced me she smiled placed her hand on my cheek and brought me in for a kiss. Audrey came out of the bedroom and we got up to see how she was doing she gave us a weak smile as she went to take a shower we may have had classes today but given the circumstance, we had an out. Holly came back as Audrey was changing and then she came out a few moments later and I could see that Audrey had been crying again and my heart broke once more.

"Hey Audrey how you doing," Holly said.

Audrey wrote down on her pad the words "I'm getting there" and gave us a weak smile.

"Come on let's go out," I said.

"But we have classes," Holly said.

"Not when Audrey is so close to braking we don't," I said.

"Knowing you you probably already have an idea" Nova said.

"What is the best medicine for those that are sad," I said.

"What," Holly said.

"ICE CREAM" I yelled with a smile.

I said the with the full knowledge that they would say no and I did expect them to however when I said it Audrey's face seemed to light up at the very mention of the word. Holly did seem like she was going to be fully against this plan wholeheartedly but when she saw the hope and interest in Audrey's face she seemed to soften up and agreed.

"Fine but let's at least get back in time for lunch," Holly said.

"I think we can do that," I said.

"Then what are we waiting for," Nova said as she hopped up.

"I just hope they have bubblegum flavour," Holly said.
