(Tw: hints towards abuse and slight self-harm)

(Luz's POV)

Golden leaves looked brown to me

The world had less color without you

My hand lightly brushes Amity's arm as she readjusts so she is laying with her back against my chest and my head is resting on her shoulder. Her body, still shaking and her breaths are slower as we sit on the hood of my car, looking at the stars, pointing out the occasional shooting star.

Shapes in the sky looked plain to my eyes

The world had less color without you

The words flow out my mouth in my softest voice and my fingers interlace with hers. I hold her close, not wanting her to feel alone. Amity hums along to the song, laying her head on my shoulder and letting her eyes flutter close. My voice lowers to a hum, not wanting to disturb the girl, and I reach over to grab my jacket, lightly laying it across our laps. Amity nuzzles into me and lets out a content sigh.

"Feeling better?" I feel her head nod and she gives me a light kiss on the cheek.

"Yes, thank you Luz."

"Do you want to talk about it?" Her body stiffens at the question, and she shakes her head.

"No No its ok," She looks at the time on her phone, "Its getting late, we should meet up with Lucia and Amelia." She quickly steps down and brushes her dress off.

Something bad happened, this isn't normal.

I grab my phone, cutting off the music and grabbing my jacket. I carefully step off and hold my hand out for Amity. She takes it and I squeeze her hand. Her eyes flash to me and she tilts her head.

"You know I'm always here for you and you can talk to me?" She smiles and nods her head. "I know Luz, it's just, today was a rough day and honestly, I just want to forget about it." She squeezes my hand and nods to the car, "Should we get going? Its almost eleven." I nod my head and let go of her hand. I know she isn't telling me everything but honestly, neither am I.

I hop in and we make our way to the café.

~Time skip~

Pulling up to the café, Amity texts her sister and steps out of my car. We interlace our fingers and walk inside. I instantly recognize the head of green hair and tug Amity's hand, walking to the table. My sister waves and makes room for me and Amelia does the same.

"Hey guys, wh-" I stop short when I see Amelia's face, Amity doing the same. She quickly sits next to her sister who flinches at the sudden noise, while I sit next to Lucia.

"Amelia! What happened?"

I feel a hand on my shoulder pushing me out of the booth. I turn and face my sister and she has a somber look on her face. "Let's go play some Foosball." Confusion washes over my face and right as I go to say something, her hand is on my shoulder again, leading me to the game section. As we walk away, I briefly hear Amity mumble something about how she shouldn't have done something, and it was her fault.

Lucia and I reach the Foosball table and start playing. She stays quiet but eventually strikes up a conversation.

"How was it?" I lift my head to see her eyes focused on me.

"How was what?" She lifts her hand and jabs her thumb in Amity's direction. "Oh, the date?" She snickers, "so you admit it was a date?" A blush spreads across my face and I slowly nod. "I mean, what else would you call it when you start dating?" Her body freezes and her arms stick in their position. I hit the ball, sending it into the goal and lift my arms, shouting, "Score!" I look up and see my sister's expression and laugh.
