Neveah finished up putting plates and silverware around the dinner table as she waited for her dad to finish making their dinner.
She was extremely nervous for Ash, to meet him. She knew they were both hot headed and they both don't take shit from anyone, but she hoped they'd put their pride to the side for one night and get along for her.
William walked to the table with a pot in his hands, he then scooped the chicken fettuccine alfredo onto their plates evenly, "Go get cups." he instructed, Neveah nodded and walked to the kitchen.
Neveah took a deep breath and opened up the fridge grabbing out a bottle of apple cider, then pouring three glasses, walking back to the table. She sat each glass down in front of a plate.
"Is he here yet?" William asked impatiently as he sat in his seat, "Look he can't even show up on time." she scoffed.
"He still has 20 minutes, he'll be here." Neveah rolled her eyes and pulled her phone out of her pocket texting Ash.
After a few minutes of them waiting in awkward silence there was a knock at the door, William quickly got out of his seat and made his way to the front door opening it.
William store at Ashtray, then glanced behind him to look at Neveah who nervously walked up to Ashtray embracing him in a hug.
"Be nice please." She whispered into his ear before pulling away.
"Nice to meet you Sir. I'm Ashtray." Ashtray greeted putting his hand out for William to shake. Which he did.
William gave Neveah the side eye before they all walked to the table and got seated.
"So Neveah tells me you live with your brother and grandmother." William suddenly spoke.
"Uhm, Yeah that's true." Ashtray murmured.
"Where's your parents?" William rudely asking causing Neveah to loudly scoff.
"You don't just ask someone that!" Neveah shot her father a hard stare, "Sorry.." William apologized.
"It's all good." Ashtray slowly responded trying to keep up his calm demeanor.
"How do you treat you grandmother?" William asked, "Well she's on hospice so me and my older brother bathe her, feed her, give her medications, and just over all look out for her."
"Oh. So you have no adult supervision over there?" William frowned as Neveah let out a sigh.
"My brothers an adult he's 19." Ashtray let out, as he glanced at Neveah who took a sip of her apple cider.
Ashtray and William continued on with their small talk as Neveah got up to use the restroom.
Neveah washed her hands and store at herself in the mirror taking a few deep breaths, before walking back to the table.
She slowly sat back down frowning as Ashtray and William laughed with eachother.
"You didn't tell me he was into horror films Veah. You know how much I love them." William chuckled.
"Oh. Yeah, my bad." Neveah nervously giggled, and played with her pasta with the fork.
William carried on with talking about his obsession with horror, Ashtray picked up his glass and took a sip of his drink quickly frowning squinting his eyes.
Neveah furrowed her eyes, looking at him, "You okay?"
"Uhm. Yeah, this is just.. It's strong." Ashtray widened his eyes and sat the glass back down.
"You've never had apple cider?" William glanced at Ashtray in disbelief as he shook his head no, "I grew up on it."
"I'm more of an orange juice person." Ashtray shrugged his shoulders, "Eh it's jus not really my thing. It's gross to me." Ashtray carelessly shrugged, "People only hate on apple jucie for attention." Neveah playfully rolled her eyes.
"That's weird. Neveah's obsessed with apple juice." William snickered, "And strawberries." Ashtray pitched in, nodding his head.
"Oh yeah, she's my little strawberry. That's her favorite thing in the entire world. When she was little every year for halloween she'd dress up as a giant strawberry, and she even wanted to paint her walls with strawberries." William spoke as Neveah hid her face in her hands feeling slightly embarrassed.
"Dang, I ain know she was that obsessed." Ashtray lightly chuckled, staring at Neveah who rolled her eyes at him.
Once they all finished up with their food Neveah took all the dirty dishes to the kitchen washing them all as William and Ashtray continued to chat.
Neveah walked out of the kitchen wiping her hands on her sides drying them as she walked to the front door, slowly glancing between the two boys.
"Alright. Nice to meet you Ashtray." William dapped Ashtray up and walked away from the two, leaving them alone.
"So... How was it?" Neveah hesitantly asked hoping Ashtray's answer wasn't going to be bad.
"Besides him threatening to kill me it went better than I thought." Ashtray shrugged, as he lightly chuckled, "Don't trip tho shordy he likes me." he raised his eyebrows.
"I'm glad, now I don't gotta lie about where i'm going all the time. But i'm warning you he's gonna be a menace now." Neveah stated, "He'll wanna hangout with you and shit."
"Aye he seems chill, I don't mind it. Especially since it's for you. Whatever makes my girl happy." Ashtray wrapped his arms around Neveah as her smiled widened.
"Thank you." She hugged him back tightly.
"Ima see you tomorrow after school then?" Ashtray pulled away and looked down at Neveah, who nodded her head yes.
"Aight." He smiled leaning his face down, Neveah pecked his forehead and watched he walked out of the front door.
Neveah was more than excited that her father approved of Ashtray.
