"I'll be good I promise." Neveah assured Ashtray as they pulled up to her house."I know you will, your strong. Just put on a tough face and show them that your better than them and better than they ever could be." Ashtray tried to make her feel better but the nots in her stomach and millions of thoughts running through her head were already taking over.
"Go home okay, i'll be good tonight. I'll call you if shit hits the fan." Neveah let out and pulled Ashtray into a slight hug before getting out of the car and walking into her fathers home.
Marissa and William were both seated on the couch along with a child in between them. Neveah slowly walked into the living room and stood infront of everyone, giving an awkward wave.
"Hello Neveah." William broke the silence, "Take a seat." he suggested, Neveah nodded her head and sat on the sofa across from them.
"So as you know i'm back. Not for good, but until I get some things sorted out." Marissa began, "But for the mean time i'll be staying here with you guys and I think it's time you meet your little sister, Nareya."
"Of course, I knew you weren't a woman of your word." Neveah shook her head, letting out a slight chuckle, "Just using us for a green card."
"Dont speak to your mother in that tone Neveah." William warned.
"Or what? What's she gonna do? Be my mother?!" Neveah dramatically gasped as she stood up, "Nice to meet you Nareya." Neveah shook the six years olds hand letting out a small smile.
"Hi!" Nareya smiled back at her older sister, "I sleep in your room now!"
Neveah sighed and gave Marissa the side eye before shifting her attention back to Nareya, "Aw! We can have girly sleepovers!" she cheesed, putting her hand out for the little girl to grab.
Neveah led her to the bedroom, they both went inside and shut the door behind them.
No matter how angry she was at her parents she wasn't going to take it out on her new younger sister. It wasn't her fault and she wasn't going to blame her for it. Although she had slight jealousy towards her, she'd never do anything to make her feel less than or treat her poorly. Their mother fucked up, and that was neither of their faults. Only hers.
