↳ blurred memories
"отпусти меня" the girl laughed, fighting of the arms of her older brother. "if you won't hold my hand, i will tickle you until you do" the boy said to her, touching her sides in a threatening manner.
the older girl that walked in front of them just laughed at her siblings antics. rolling her eyes and skipping a step while walking.
"пьетро пожалуйста" she plead again, but as he rose his hands towards her chin, she gave in and took his hand.
"good girl" he told her proudly.
suddenly everything was grey. the dust was all around her. the young girl turned around, but both her brother and sister were gone.
"pietro! wanda!" she called, but her cries were answered with silence. suddenly she turned around and found herself in a new scene.
a laboratory with a metal table and a little girl on top. she wasn't older than twelve and she was crying.
"don't cry" a boy said. he was sitting on another table, close to his sister. he seemed to be about fifteen. next to him stood a bed, in which a third body laid, a girl.
"I'm scared" the little girl admitted.
"you don't have to." her brother assured her. "she will wake up. I promise you"
"will everything be okay some day?" the last bit of hope was evident in her question and the boy sighed deeply, before he decided that he had to lie to his little sister.
"everything will be alright"
tears came into her eyes, but before she could interrupt the situation, the scene had changed once again.
a battlefield. it was her home town. all destroyed and it looked like a war had just broken out. the first thing she noticed was the man. dressed in a blue and grey shirt, black pants and trainers. his hair was blonde- no white and he had a beard. she didn't know him.
her first thought was that he looked familiar. he looked a lot like her brother, but older and more mature. he stood his ground as he watched a ship flew over his head. bullets rang through the air and he contemplated his decision.
before he could do something she had called out to him. "pietro?"
he had turned around and looked into her eyes, the little children eyes, that get lost once you grow up, but show themselves from time to time when something breaks inside of you.
something broke inside of her, in that moment, he had thrown her one last look. sorrowful eyes had spilt some tears, but determined nonetheless.
he wasn't a boy anymore. he was a man, a hero and he was brave. he gave it all away for someone else and the little girl sunk to her knees the moment she realised what the man- the boy, her big brother had just done.
and across from her was a girl. the same girl from the laboratory. she had grown a few years older.
when the little girl turned her eyes back to her brother, she could see him sink to his knees, wounded.
the girl across from her screamed and fought to get out of the arms of a man in blue. he let her go eventually and she ran towards the man on the ground.
the little girl just watched. took in the scene as the girl was sitting on the ground, rocking her brothers corpse in her arms and crying uncontrollably, until she stopped and sunk to the ground herself.
the little girl stood motionless. she registered all that was happening. the men looking at both bodies on the ground and eventually taking them away.
she turned around the broken city and she wondered. why wouldn't the scene change? she took it in, like all of it had been new, something unexpected and not yet experienced. but in contrary it were her very own memories. they kept her awake at night and the scene had always ended at the same moment.
she had always wondered why. but now she knew it had ended because there was nothing to come after. it had taken her a long time to recognise the eyes of the familiar girl.
it had gone fast with her brother. the first time she saw him, she had immediately known. but with the girl it took longer.
maybe it had been her eyes, which colour had turned darker over the years. or the hair which was longer and fuller. or the powers, she was sure they weren't there before.
but probably it was just the obvious thing. how could a little girl, seven years old, imagine how she would look at sixteen.
but after a few times of watching the scene unfold she had known. the familiar girl had taken the same look upon the sight of pietro and cried the same tears she had. but she had died and little evina maximoff took too long to realise that.
now she stood, watching as the girl was carried on the plane. this time something was different. instead of the scene ending there, it continued. and evi's worst fear became true.
all the time she had watched it, she hoped it would never come to that point. but here it was, for the first time ever and she was not prepared.
evi stood on the carrier next to her own and her brothers body. wanda had made her way onto there. steve, who stood in front of the bodies stepped aside and evi could see the pain and fear enter her sisters face.
she sank down on her knees and she screamed. evi stood motionless as she watched. it felt like somebody just ripped her heart out at the sight of her grieving sister. she wished she could do something, anything, to help her, but she could just stand and watch.
suddenly for the first time. the scene switched again. it was dark around her. the only thing she could see was a purple light far away from her.
it came closer and evi could see a silhouette. a girl, her face wasn't visible. purple dust emitted from her hands and she looked powerful. for a second she seemed familiar, but evi quickly dismissed the thought.
before she could investigate further, the scene disappeared, but not how it normally did. it was as if a curtain had fallen down around her and suddenly she stood in the middle of a street.
the street was busy, people ran around and evi felt so little against them. she turned again and then she watched herself in the window of a shop. she wasn't seven years old anymore. she was back to her old self,- well the last self that had existed, before her life had ended.
something else was different, what she was seeing wasn't a memory, she hadn't been here before. the street seemed older, not as if this was the same year she had died, not later, but sooner.
she walked down the street, her eyes searching for anything remotely familiar, but to no appeal. she was almost ready to cry out in agony, when she finally saw a building. before she could walk in, a familiar man walked out of the door.
he was older and seemed tired, but he was still the same. evi felt endless happiness flush inside of her, as she came to a halt in front of the man.
his eyes grew wide at the sight of her and he seemed to be scared.
"steve?" she asked, relieved
"evi?"
