Queen Raya was very proud of Bayani. She wondered when he was planning to get married. She kept on thinking whether there is a chance that Bayani would offer a marriage proposal to her. The thought of marrying Bayani and having children of their own sometimes kept her awake at night. She wanted to know if Bayani also felt the same way she did for him. She summoned him the next day to satisfy her curiosity. She needed to be careful in inquiring him about his plans for his future in order not to appear that she was pressuring him into marrying her.
Bayani bowed to Queen Raya.
Queen Raya couldn’t contain her excitement when she saw Bayani, the love of her life. She wanted to hug him so badly.
“Thank you for coming today. I’m glad to see you. How are you, Bayani? ”
“I’m good, my queen.”
“No need to be so formal with me. You can call me Raya since we grow up together.”
“Yes, Raya.”
Queen Raya felt the tenderness in Bayani’s voice when he mentioned her name on his lips.
“You might be wondering why I summoned you today. Do you have any idea why I invited you to my palace, this morning?”
“No, my queen. I mean, no, Raya.”
“That’s fine. I’m calling you today to let you know about my plans in the future in establishing the stability of our kingdom. We won’t live forever. We need successors that will establish our kingdom once we’re gone. We need to keep the torch burning.”
“I understand.”
“Great! I’m glad that our minds are connected towards this quest. Do you have any plans of settling down?”
“Yes, I have.”
“That’s good news. Have you found the perfect woman whom you want to spend the rest of your life, with?”
“Yes, I have.”
Queen Raya was so excited. She could almost hear the beating of her own heart. She couldn’t wait for Bayani to tell her that she was the woman whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. She held her breath. She stared at Bayani lovingly without blinking while waiting for his answer. She was waiting for him to confess to her that she was the woman that he wanted all his life.
“Ever since I laid my eyes on this woman, I couldn’t forget her beautiful countenance. She rarely smiles but when she does, her face is like a moonlight in the dark sky amid the stars.”
Queen Raya was flattered to the very core of her bones. She never thought that her bravest warrior was also poetic. She couldn’t wait for him to utter her name on his lips.
“Who could that woman be?”
“That woman is no other than Moonlight. The only woman in the world that occupies my thought before I sleep and every time I wake up. She is my one and only inspiration why I fight so bravely.”
The golden cup that was filled with coconut water fell from Queen Raya’s hand. She trembled with jealousy, anger, and disappointment. She didn’t want to show her emotion to Bayani. It wouldn’t be proper for a respected queen like her to be jealous with an ordinary foreign woman like Moonlight.
“Are you okay, my queen?” Bayani picked the golden cup that fell from Queen Raya’s hand.
“Of course, I am okay. I apologize. I didn’t mean to startle you. I haven’t taken my breakfast yet. That’s why I don’t have much energy. Do you want to join me for breakfast?”
“That will be pleasant. But, no thank you. I have already taken my breakfast.” Bayani politely refused.
“I understand. Thank you for attending to my summon this morning. You may go back now to whatever you’re doing.”
