"Nanami...why did you suggest not letting me investigate? I didn't get hurt during the explosion at breakfast, so I shall be fine-"
"I'm afraid we can't risk it, Y/N," Nanami replied grimly. "I know you want to help but your life is more important than your participation. Plus, I'm sure we'll be fine."
She unlocked your cottage door and stirred you inside. "Do you want to be on the bed? You'll be more comfortable that way than if you sit on the wheelchair the entire time. We won't be back until a long while and we probably won't hear you calling out. Maybe I should stay behind..."
"No." You said quickly. "Just go find those bombs, you hear me? We can beat Nagito at his own game. Let's just have hope, okay?"
Nanami smiled. "You're right. I'll go now."
She helped you climb out of your chair into the bed before she headed for the door. Suddenly she stopped with her back facing you."By the way, it's okay to call me Chiaki, you know? I know you aren't as close with me as you are with everyone else, but I am still your friend."
"Oh- yeah, right sorry-"
"If we ever get out of here, we can go to a arcade with all the others have fun," she turned slightly, showing the side of her smile. "There's a place I used to go everyday, but I've forgotten most of it...it was my first ever arcade. It was called, 'Centipede Arcade'."
"You... remember that place?" You whispered softly, reminiscing about the memories you had retrieved.
"Did you go there too? You seem familiar with it, the way you just talked about it."
"Yeah, I did go once or twice. It was fun." You smiled too. "Someone taught me how to play on the arcade, and I even won a hair clip just like yours."
"Oh...is that right? Well... I'll get going now. Bye."
"Bye, Chiaki."
Once she left, you sat idly for a while, having nothing to do. Then, out of boredom, you grabbed the book in which you wrote poetry. You flipped onto an empty page and started writing.
Don't run away, my beloved,
Don't glare so with those dark empty eyes,
Don't fill your heart with revenge,
If you desire to fly, let us fly, together.Everyday I strive to get stronger,
So I can carve a path to you,
Even if the nights are cold and longer,
The Sun always dawns,
And along with it, my will to find you.Never shun me, my beloved,
Did we mean something to you?
Even if you turn your face and path away,
I know our paths will coincide,
No matter how long it takes to.Reading it once over, you felt like it wasn't worth keeping and tore the page off. Crumpling it into a ball, you threw it into the wall parallel to you in frustration.
"Were you pretending that wall was me?" An amused voice spoke, it's owner emerging through the door. Nagito invited himself in after locking the door. On one hand, he held a tin can of orange juice. He placed it on the bedside table.
"Ko Senpai?!"
"Hello, Y/N. In the end, I couldn't distance myself from you after all. I resent myself for getting attached to more than just the fake hope inside you...I regret it more than anything...but that can't be helped, right?"
He took off his shoes and climbed on top of the bed with his socks on. "The heart wants what it wants!"
"What on earth- there is definitely something wrong with you, Senpai. How can you pretend like everything's completely normal?"
