"Put these in the shopping cart," orders Isabella to Veronica.
It had been nearly a week since they were in Cuba. Their days were pretty much the same: going out the day with Lance's cousins and the night either way they would stay at their Abuela's house or they would go to one of their uncle's places. Sometimes the adult would force them to spend time with them during the day. But wandering in town with a bunch of grown-ups wasn't the most thrilling thing to do during summer.
And today would be no exception.
"Marco doesn't like these," Veronica replies, still putting the chips in the cart.
"Too bad. He should have come then." Snaps back her mother in an unbothered tone. When she asked who wanted to go shopping with her nobody volunteered to accompany her, except Rosalie, but that doesn't count. She will always volunteer to help, no matter what. So Isabella had to drag Veronica with her since her brothers were playing dead and Rachel wasn't home at that moment.
The three women continue their shopping, having a little talk during it, but it quickly stops when they bump into a familiar person.
"Tìa? What are you doing here?" Victor asks, genuinely curious, even though it was pretty obvious.
"Doing some errands for your Abuela." The older one glances over the shopping cart of her nephew to see what he got. "I imagine it's your dad who told you to buy that?" She says as she points to the bottle of alcohol with a look of suspicion.
With an amused smile, he nods. "Of course tìa, you know me." He then quietly grin at Rosalie, who watched the exchange with interest. The curly-haired teenager returns the smile under the curious gaze of Veronica.
Folding her eyes a little, she eyes him, "That's because I know you I ask. But whatever, what are you doing for the day?"
As she spoke she drove her cart to the checkout, Veronica, Rosalie, and Victor following her behind.
"With Luis, Julio, and some friends, we're going to the beach around 2 PM," he answers.
Isabella stops herself as she's met with the line of people waiting to scan their errands. The woman gives her nephew a look of sorry, "Actually, it's canceled. I said to Luis he was going with us after eating this afternoon."
"Cancelled?" He frowns. Nobody told him it was and he didn't like to learn it this way.
The line shortens.
"Yes. And you're coming with us. You're also eating at your Abuela and it's not negotiable." With that, she began to put the article on the conveyor belt. The girls helped her put the rest on it while Victor internally sighed, waiting for his turn.
Sure, he would have preferred to go have fun at the beach with his friends and his cousin, but on the bright side, being forced to spend time with his family this afternoon also meant spending time with his cousin's best friend, and that, he was grateful of.
