Chapter Ten - On To The Semi Finals

After Katooni's victory over Petro, Katooni and Petro made their way back to the stands where the rest of Class 001 were waiting for them.

Ganodi: That was amazing!

Petro: Thanks, Ganodi. Glad I could impress even when I lose.

Katooni chuckles as she and Petro take a seat in the stands. The rest of Class 001 were still in awe over their match.

Zatt: I think it's safe to say that you both made quite the impression.

Katooni and Petro smiled to each other, feeling pride in their performance. Soon enough, the next match of the Sports Festival was underway. Byph was once more nervous about having to duel. However, his previous victory over O-Mer instilled a sense of confidence in the fearful young Jedi.

Byph: Guys....wish me luck.

Gungi: <We believe in you, Byph!>

Katooni: May the Force be with you.

Byph took a deep breath as he makes his way to the arena. As he and Jinx made their way to the arena, Present Mic announces the fight.

Present Mic(Intercom): ALL RIGHT, FOLKS! AFTER THAT THRILLING MATCH, THE RIVALRY BETWEEN CLASS 001 AND CLASS 002 CONTINUES! FIRST, WE HAVE BYPH OF CLASS 001! HIS OPPONENT IS JINX FROM CLASS 002!

As the crowd cheered for Byph and Jinx, the two young Jedi Initiates saluted one another.

Byph: May...may the Force be with you.

Jinx: And may the Force be with you.

Present Mic(Intercom): CLASH!

As Present Mic made the announcement, Byph and Jinx drew their Lightsabers and charged at one another. When they clashed blades, Jinx was the first to press the attack as he attacked Byph with a series of fast paced attacks. Byph was able to parry Jinx's attacks and follows through with a sweeping overhead strike which forces Jinx on the defense. Jinx quickly bounces back by using the Force to pull Byph forward, throwing him off balance. Jinx then attempts to press the attack, but Byph was able to block Jinx's strike. Both Byph and Jinx attempt to Force Push each other away. Both were unable the other away. Eventually the air-pocket compressed by the combined Force pushes ruptured and exploded, flinging both duelists against opposite directions. Byph and Jinx were unable to regain their balance in time as they were both flung out of bounds.

Midnight: BYPH AND JINX ARE OUT OF BOUNDS! THE MATCH IS A TIE!

Present Mic(Intercom): A TIE?! WELL THIS JUST GOT MORE INTERESTING! WE'LL SETTLE THIS TIE ANOTHER TIME! FOR NOW, ONTO THE NEXT MATCH!

As Byph and Jinx made their way back to the stands, the next match of the Sports Festival commenced as Xanatos and Serra Keto battled. Despite the early advantage Serra had, Xanatos was able to gain the upper hand and defeated her with unrelenting ruthlessness. As the match ended, Midnight addressed the crowd as Byph and Jinx entered the arena.

Midnight: THE OUTCOME OF THE PREVIOUS MATCH WILL ADVANCE TO A TIEBREAKER EVENT! HERE TO COORDINATE THIS IS MASTER CIN DRALLIG!

Cin Drallig enters the arena with two Jedi Sentinel Guards. The Jedi Sentinels then place a stack of ten bars of solid steel in front of Byph and Jinx. Cin Drallig then addresses both the Jedi Initiates and the crowd.

Cin Drallig: To settle this tie, a test of strength shall decide the victor! This will be a test strength, not only of physical strength, but of your connection to the Force. Use the Force to augment your strength and attempt to break through all ten bars of steel. The one who breaks through all ten bars shall be declared the winner and advance to the semi-finals.

As Cin Drallig breaks down the rules, Byph and Jinx looked at each other and nodded to each other in respect as they prepared their attempt. Both Jedi Initiates took a deep breath as they reached out to the Force. Simultaneously, Byph and Jinx chopped through the bars of steel. As they made their attempt, Byph and Jinx saluted each other. Cin Drallig inspected the stacks from each Jedi Initiate. When inspecting Jinx's stack, he saw that Jinx had broken through nine bars of steel. The last bar was broken half way through. The Jedi Master then inspects Byph's stack to see that Byph had broken through all ten bars of steel. For Cin Drallig, the winner was clear.

Cin Drallig: The tie has been broken! Byph of Class 001 advances to the Semi-finals!

As the crowd cheered for Byph, the young Jedi Initiate was in a state of shock. He didn't think he would make it this far. As the crowd cheered, he turned his attention to Jinx who was disappointed. Without hesitation, Byph extends his hand to Jinx.

Byph: You...you did well, Jinx.

Jinx smiled as he took Byph's hand. After that, Byph made his way back the stands where his fellow 001 classmates congratulated him.

Petro: Way to go, Byph! Looks like you're going to the Semi-finals!

Byph: T...thanks, guys. I honestly didn't think I'd make it this far.

Katooni: You don't give yourself enough credit, Byph. Your hard work had paid off.

Byph: But....but that means I'll have to fight you if I make it to the finals.

Katooni: If it comes to that, then I know you'll give it your all.

With that, the Sports Festival tournament had now moved on the the Semi-finals. As the Sports Festival was reaching it's climax, the remaining Jedi Initiates in the tournament prepared themselves as the final challenge was approaching. Only time would tell of who would ultimately achieve victory in the Sports Festival.
