Lilystar's Demise

Chapter 4

Lilypaw was woken by Calicostar's meow, "All cats strong enough to swim the rivers currents gather beneath the high rock for a clan meeting!" Lilypaw and Hazelpaw made their way under the high rock. Raintail and Bristletail sit beside them. "More Shadowclan cats have intruded on our territory and we declared battle with them." Calicostar said. "Raintail, Bristletail, Hillpaw, Featherpaw, Longclaw, Muddyoak, Thrushfeather, and Moonpaw will be fighting" Raintail's whiskers flicked with annoyance, "What about Lilypaw and Hazelpaw?" Calicostar was surprised. "They can watch while hidden with the medicine cat and the medicine cat apprentice. With the medicine cat, Gooseleaf, and the medicine cat apprentice, Foxpelt?  Lilypaw wanted to fight though. Calicostar spoke once more, "Raintail you will destroy their medicine supply so they are more worried about their warriors more than intruding on out territory.

Lilypaw followed the rest of the warriors to Shadowclans camp Her and Hazelpaw hide behind a tall boulder with the medicine cat and the medicine cat apprentice. They waited patiently when yowls were heard near the boulder. The battle was going on. Lilypaw and Hazelpaw watched as Raintail made her way to the medicine cat's den. All the sudden Raintail disappeared through the leaves of the medicine cat den. Shadowclans deputy, Shadetail, ran into the medicine cats den flinging Raintail out and running back out attacking her. "No!" Hazelpaw hissed under her breath. Shadetail's teeth sank into Raintail's flank making her wail, Lilypaw's attention was turned to the wail of Muddyoak. Tigerpelt had sunk his claws and teeth into her flank. "Muddyoak can do it!" Lilypaw hissed under breath. "Raintail!" Hazelpaw hissed making Lilypaw's head jerk over to see her limp mother laying on the ground. Gooseleaf sat up "stay here-" He started to say as Hazelpaw dashed for Raintail. Lilypaw looked over to see Muddyoak struggling, she wanted to help her so bad but Bristletail beat her to it. Lilypaw ran after her sister to bring her back up there. "Hazelpaw!" Lilypaw hissed, "Look! Riverclan brought kits!" A large Shadowclan warrior hissed, Lilypaw growled, "I'm not a kit!" she hissed. The warrior unsheathed his claws, "Then why aren't you fighting?" he said lunging toward Lilypaw, before she could think she ducked avoiding his attack turning around backing away from him. "How dare you!" the cat hissed lunging toward her again, This time it would be hard to avoid, she couldn't think her life flashed before her eyes when Muddyoak attacked the warrior before he got his claws on Lilypaw. "What are you doing down here!" Muddyoak hissed. "I was going to get Hazelpaw! I need her to go back to safety!" Lilypaw hissed, running toward Hazelpaw. A yowl came from behind her making her turn, the warrior had killed Muddyoak, Lilypaw's eyes had filled with tears, her mentor had been killed. Lilypaw raged with anger and remembered a battle move Featherpaw had taught her, she was enraged for her mother and for her mentor. Before she could even think twice Lilypaw raked her claws around the warriors ear and gripping at his ear before pouncing behind him and running around him confusing him, Hazelpaw watched as Lilypaw pounced on the warriors back making him tumble onto the ground. "It's not going to give him injuries but he will be dizzy long enough for us to get back to the boulder" Lilypaw whispered, "What about Raintail and Muddyoak?" Lilypaw prickled with annoyance and sadness "Worry about them later!" Lilypaw hissed running back to the boulder they hid behind and was surprised that Hazelpaw had followed her. Longclaw came from the battle below jumping onto the rocks before letting out a meowed echo, the Shadowclans deputy had given up the battle. Calicostar gripped Raintail while Bristletail gripped Muddyoak as we headed back to camp.

back at camp Lilypaw went to Raintail and cried longer than she did when near her mentor. She slumped over next to Honeykit, "Are they really dead?" Honeykit asked as Lilypaw nodded. Stormbreeze came out of the nursery crying as she slumped over by Raintail's body, Lilypaw scanned camp and saw Bristletail sharing tongues with Raintail as most warriors did when a cat died. Lilypaw gave them the time share tongues with Raintail, she slumped over by Muddyoak and for the first time ever shared tongues with her until her and Hazelpaw could share tongues with Raintail. Lilypaw saw Hazelpaw slump over by Raintail Lilypaw did the same as her and Hazelpaw started sharing tongues with their mother.
