Lilystar's Demise

Chapter 11

"All cats strong enough to swim the rivers currents gather beneath the high rock for a clan meeting!" Lilystream had been sleeping in the warriors den while Icekit and Lavenderkit kept each other warm in the nursery and now they were turning 6 moons old. "Today i would like to appoint two new apprentice's!" Longstar looked where his deputy no longer stood. Bristletail had caught Greencough and had been staying in the medicine cats den. "Icekit! From this day fourth until you receive your warrior name you shall be known as Icepaw! Your mentor will be Snowpelt, I trust she will train you well" Lilystream felt bad for Snowpelt she has trained an apprentice every moon she is occupied with an apprentice. Lilystream chanted with the clan. "Icepaw! Icepaw!" "Lavenderkit! From this day fourth until you receive your warrior name you shall be known as Lavenderpaw! Your mentor will be Honeydew, I trust she will train you well" Lilystream chanted with the clan again "Lavenderpaw! Lavenderpaw!" Lilystream snuck past the night patrol and found herself swimming across the river to be with Oakbreeze. Oakbreeze's fur swayed in the Leaf-fall wind. "Oakbreeze, this is the last time we can meet up like this" Oakbreeze agreed with her as they made nest. Lilystream fell into dreams sleeping next to Oakbreeze was calming.

Lilystream watched as Foxpelt taught his new apprentice Spottedpaw. Spottedpaw was a nice she-cat. Featherleaf mewed, "Are you having kits?" Lilystream was confused how would Featherleaf know if she were having kits or not. "I'm not having kits, but I have been feeling sick lately, so I guess it's possible" Featherleaf's tail moved happily, "You should check and make sure!" Lilystream wanted to other things other than see if she were having kits. She walked to the entrance of the medicine cats den. Foxpelt looked at her, "What is it Lilystream?" Lilystream tried to build up the words. "I haven't been feeling well lately" Foxpelt looked at her belly. "By the looks of it your having kits but lets check first" Foxpelt flicked his tail to a nest that Lilystream laid on. Foxpelt lightly pressed a paw on her stomach. "Congratulations Lilystream, You're having kits!" Foxpelt mew surprised Lilystream, she didn't think she were really going to have kits. "Thank you Foxpelt" He nodded as Lilystream found Featherleaf with Hillbreeze. "You two, I'm going to have kits!" Featherleaf was excited. "Is the father Thornpelt? I know you figured out about you being his crush" Lilystream's paws fidgeted. "Yes, but don't tell him, I want to tell him" Featherleaf nodded with approval. Lilystream couldn't believe she lied about having kits with Thornpelt so they wouldn't find out Oakbreeze was the father. She saw Oakbreeze by the river. "Oakbreeze!" Oakbreeze looked up puzzled. "I thought we weren't meeting up again, did you change your mind?" Lilystream shook her head, she look at Oakbreeze her eyes filled with tears. "I'm having kits Oakbreeze" Oakbreeze's eyes widen in excitement, his excitement left his body as he remembered they were in separate clans. "I will take care of the kits Thornpelt will father our kits, I know him he won't tell a soul." Lilystream padded away and saw Thornpelt. "Lilystream?" Thornpelt used his tail to stop her, "Where are you going?" Lilystream put her head down "I'm headed back to camp" Lilystream continued when Thornpelt ran in front of her. "Featherleaf and Hillbreeze congratulated me on becoming a father" Lilystream's pelt prickled with anger, "They promised they wouldn't tell you!" Lilystream looked at him, "I told them you were the father so I didn't tell them the true father" "So it's true you're having kits?" Lilystream felt guilty as she nodded, Thornpelt looked disappointed but then looked determined. "You can tell the clan I'm the father and i will father your kits as if the were really my own" Lilystream smiled at Thornpelt.

A cat walked out of Longstar's den. Lilystream was going to tell Longstar about not keeping Spikeclaw in Riverclan, he was pure evil. Lilystream poked her head in Longstar's den. "It's Lilystream" Lilystream waited for a response, "Come on in" Lilystream walked into Longstar's den. "Hello Longstar" Longstar licked a paw, "Hello Lilystream" Lilystream had a hard time talking about Spikeclaw. "I think we should reconsider Spikeclaw being a warrior here" Longstar starred at her. "Why? He is one of the best hunters here," Longstar changed the subject before Lilystream could answer. "I see you're going to have kits" Lilystream was puzzled, how did he know? "I know I never had a mate of my own but i can see when a cat is going to have kits" Longstar's ears pinned, "Bristletail is getting weaker he said if I find a better healthier deputy he would accept not being deputy anymore. I was gong to make you deputy," Longstar looked at Lilystream's belly. "But it looks like I can't make you deputy." Longstar looked at Spikeclaw who was outside. "But if Bristletail doesn't get well soon I know who to make deputy." Lilystream felt a surge of fear. Lilystream nodded as she left Longstar's den. Honeydew purred. "Are you really having Thornpelt's kits?" Lilystream nodded. "Well then i hope your ready to move back into the nursery!" Lilystream was excited she wanted to take her old nest as a place where she could raise her kits.
