The results for the blood sample can back so detective Johnson had stopped by to let them know it belonged to a guy named Curtis Smith.
"Now, we found out he not actually from around here. He's from Albany, New York. Do you recognize the name?" The Detective asked.
"No, I don't sorry." Stella shook her head.
"Curtis Smith? That name sounds familiar to me." MacKenzie stated.
"It does?" Stella asked confused.
"Yeah."
"Well since the last known address is in Albany, I reached out to the station there and I'm just waiting to hear back from them."
Mackenzie pulled out her address book and went through it until she found what she was looking for.
"Does this Curtis have a wife named Betty?" MacKenzie questioned.
"I'm sorry, I can't release that kind of information."
"Okay so how do you possibly know this Curtis guy?" Stella asked her.
"Well you know how I said I think I know who adopted your baby? Well Betty is my cousin on my dad's side. I was never close to her and hardly seen her. Anyways about 4 years ago we had a family reunion and she was with this little girl who looked nothing like her or her husband but I found out they adopted her. And her husband's name is Curtis."
"Oh wow."
"Do you have a way to contact this Betty ma'am?"
"Yes I do. I have had last known address and phone number."
"May I have them."
"Oh my goodness yes." MacKenzie wrote the information down and handed it to the Detective.
He told them that they are doing everything in their power to try to find Aiden and Madison. And that they want to track down this Curtis guy as soon as possible and any leads to him was greatly appreciated. The girls thanked him after he said he would keep them updated and then he left.
The girls decided to go into the kitchen and make them some lattes and talk.
"I wonder if this Curtis knows Kelly and she paid him to attack me."
"Or he could have thought it was me because the times I had been around him he always had this weird look like he was saying he wanted me. Then when we were alone he hit on me."
"No, he knew it was me because he said my name."
"Oh God, maybe you're right." MacKenzie then grabbed her laptop, "How about we Google him. You can find out a lot about someone doing that."
They began to do just that and found out that he did in fact have a younger sister named Kelly. So Stella decided to text Shane and tell him she needed to talk to him as soon as he had a chance but only when when he was alone. The girls continued to talk and look at the internet when 15 minutes later Stella cellphone began to ring. She noticed it was Shane so she put it on speaker.
"Hey Shane." She then mouthed for MacKenzie to be quiet for now.
"Hey sweetie, what did you need?"
Both girls smiled as Stella asked, "What is Kelly's last name?"
"It's Smith, why do you ask?"
"That's what we thought. Last night I was attacked and-"
"Shit are you okay?!"
"Yeah I'm fine, I only have a bruise on my cheek. Anyway, the guy who attacked me is Kelly's brother."
"How do you know?"
"He cut himself and the police ran the blood sample. So we Googled him and MacKenzie knows him. He's married to her cousin Betty.
"But she doesn't have any siblings." Shane told them.
"Have you talked about or met any of her family?"
"Well, I've met her parents. Wait, the last time I was at her parents house I seen this family photo, it was about five years old, anyways in the photo was Kelly, her parents and some guy."
"Did you ask who he was?"
"Yeah, Kelly said it was her cousin."
"Did she say his name?"
"Umm,I think she said his name was Curtis. Yeah, that's what it was, I'm sure it was."
"Dude, she lied, that is her brother."
"But why would she lie to me? She has no reason to."
"I don't know. Look, where are you at right now Shane?"
"I just got off work. I'm at the deli and getting ready to leave."
"Can you spare like maybe half an hour to meet MacKenzie and me at the... diner? Please, because we need to show you something important."
"I don't know." He sighed, "Seems everytime we see each other, something bad happens to you. Stella, I don't want you hurt again. I care too much about you still."
"I care so much about you too. I always have and always will. That's why I want to meet you at the diner to show you what we found please. Look, if you don't want to be seen coming in and meeting me, you can come in the back door and straight to the office where we will be."
He was silent for the moment and the girls were starting to think they lost the call until he spoke up.
"Okay, yeah, I'll meet you there. And for your sake, I'll come in the back door."
"Good, how long does it take you to get from the deli to the diner?"
"It takes about 15 minutes or so."
"Okay, from my brothers house it takes about 10 minutes. If we leave right now we'll get there before you do and and be able to tell Tony what's going on?"
"See you there, oh and Stella?"
"Yeah?"
"Umm, I need to tell you something."
"Please do tell."
"I love you. The truth is u never stopped loving you."
"Oh God, I never stopped loving you neither."
They got off the phone then Stella and MacKenzie got their stuff they needed and went to the diner.
