Gone Without Goodbye

Chapter 20

When they got to the diner, they told Tony about the days events they had. They even told him about Shane coming to the diner and that he was going to be using the back door. When Tony asked them why, Stella, of course, told him why.

Stella made sure to wait by the back door for Shane as MacKenzie sat in the office getting her laptop ready. When Shane got there Stella pulled him inside, shut the door then kissed him fiercely.

"Woah." He breathed out once she pulled away.

"I've been wanting to do that for so long but don't tell anyone what we did."

"Of course not. It stays between us."

Stella nodded then lead him to the office to show him the information. She made him sit down in one of the chairs, with her kneeling down beside his legs and faced the laptop towards him.

"Okay so after MacKenzie and me found out who attacked me, we decided to see what he was all about." Stella explained, "This is what we found. There are pictures and we did find other Curtis smith's but this is the only one that had a site with pictures and detailed information on what we wanted. That's when we found out that he has a sister named Kelly."

"We didn't look at all the pictures though." MacKenzie added.

Shane pulled the chair closer to the desk and began looking at the pictures, "It's this the guy that adopted our baby?" He asked when he came across a picture of a baby that looked like the same baby Stella showed him.

"We believe so, yes." MacKenzie answered.

"Oh wow." He smiled as he continued to look at the pictures and reading the information, "You say he's married to your cousin MacKenzie?"

"That's right."

"So, you can see the little girl anytime right?"

"Not exactly. Me and my cousin aren't close at all. I mean we see each other at family reunions and holidays but that's about it. We don't talk on a daily basis."

"Oh." He stated then went back to looking at the laptop, "Holy shit, this is the exact same picture I seen at Kelly's parents house. It says here, this is my family. My mom, Carol, my father, Karl and my sister Kelly."

"See, I told you." Stella frowned a bit.

"Sorry, I should have believed you Stella, I just needed to see it for myself."

"It's okay, I understand."

"You can't go back there. That's for employees only." They heard Sarah say to someone.

"That's too damn bad. I used to work here and was fired for no good reason."

They looked up to see Kelly walk into the office.

"What the hell is going on here?" She questioned after seeing them, "Oh I see, you're looking at my cousin's website."

"Hm, your cousin huh? That's funny because he's calling you his sister." Stella smirked.

"Oh, um, that's because my parents practically raised raised him."

"So did you have him or even pay him to attack me?"

"What? God no!"

"You're not lying to us are you?" Shane asked as he stood up.

"Why are you even talking to her? I have heard you tell your friends about how badly she broke your heart. How she used you then took off."

"First off, I never said she used me, plus I found out the truth on why she left and second, why are you changing the subject. Tell me that."

"I'm not changing the subject."

"That's Bullshit Kelly! When asked if you were lying to Shane, you started talking about me leaving." Stella snapped.

"Don't you dare snap at me. I've done nothing to you."

Stella rolled her eyes as a police officer knocked on the door. Kelly turned around, looked shocked and started backing up.

"Miss Grace?"

"Yeah?"

"We went to the place you're staying at and Detective Johnson said you might be here. Anyways, may we speak with you outside please?"

"Yes, of course." She then walked outside with the officer.

Once outside the officer began to talk, "We called the number that your friend gave the Detective. And we got his wife, Betty, she said that her and her husband, Curtis, had a small fight and he left. She said he was coming to Maryland to visit family."

"Have you been able to find out where he staying at or where he's at in general?"

"No ma'am."

"Well, I'll tell you one thing. His sister, Kelly is right in there. Although she keeps saying he's her cousin, but we found out he's in fact her brother."

"Then she might know where he is. We are going to find this guy and lock him up for what he did. He also might have some clues as to where Aiden and Madison are. We think the cases are related."

"I kinda think Kelly is partly behind all of this."

"Has she given you some clues?"

"Yeah, well I don't know if they are clues but when she found out I came back into town she said I should have stayed away. And everytime she looks at me it's like the saying goes, if looks could kill." She told him.

"Well, we'll try to get her to tell us everything she knows."

"That's if she does."

"Oh we will her her to talk."

They then went in and the officer told Kelly that they needed her to come into the station for questioning  but she wasn't arrested. Of course Kelly thought Stella had told them lies even if she wasn't arrested.
