Chapter 8: Mipha's Grace

Link pressed his sheikah slate against the pedestal, it played the sound effect he had known for a while now and glowed blue and orange. He saw a pop-up on his slate and read it, 

"Travel Gate registered to map" 

A blue disk behind him, a sheikah travel gate, glowed a bright blue, slightly startling Link. He turned to the entrance and was about to walk in when he heard Mipha's voice. It resonated through Ruta, coming from everywhere. 

"Link, it has been a long time since we last saw each other, It is nice to see you again."

Link stepped inside, he looked around at the interior of Ruta. It had an ominous air, clearly it had been abandoned for the last 100 years. The whole thing was slightly flooded, the ground wet with water.

"Link, to pull Ruta out of Ganon's control you will have to activate 5 terminals. You will need a map to help you. Inside you will find a Guidance Stone, activate that to get the map."

Although Mipha was nowhere to be seen Link nodded and strutted inside, water splashing under his feet. There was a ramp at the entrance of Ruta and upon making it to the top he was confronted. In front of him was a pile of reddish goo, and in the middle of it was a staring, angry eyeball. It was a sickly yellow colour and had a black narrow pupil, not knowing what to do he tried shooting it with an arrow. He hit it straight in the center and it made a sort of low, scraping growl as it shrivelled up on the spot before slowly exploding into nothing. 

The goo slowly dissolved with it and Link marched foward, determined to find the guidance stone. He turned to his left and saw a passageway blocked by a gate made of bars, he walked over to it and looked through the bars, he could see a guidance stone. The same thing he got his runes from back at the plateau.

He focused back on the problem at hand, the stone bars blocking his way. He pulled out his slate and selected the cryonis rune, there was water under the bars and maybe he could open the gate by putting a block underneath. He activated the rune and a ice block materialised under the gate, lifting it up as it slowly rose out of the water. The gap at the side of the cryonis block was just wide enough for him to pass through. 

He walked up to the guidance stone and placed his slate on the stand underneath the stone. The slate was pressed into the pedestal and flipped over so Link could see the eye symbol on the back. The stone above the slate glowed blue, a tiny aqua drop at the bottom of the stone slowly got bigger and bigger until it was to heavy and fell into the slate.

The slate was moved up again, and Link grabbed it and looked at the screen. The slate showed a 3D model of Vah Ruta where the map usually was, he looked at some of the text next to it. It looked like he could manipulate the trunk of Ruta with his slate. 

~Sidon's POV~

Sidon was racked with worry, Link was up in Divine Beast Vah Ruta and he couldn't do anything to help him. He was completely alone in and Hylia knows what he might encounter in there. He sighed stressfully, Link was the same boy who was bested by a group of Lizalfos when he was on his way here. How would he match up against potentially the same thing that killed his sister in there? What if he died in there? It would absolutely destroy Sidon, and Hyrule's hopes of being saved from Ganon. 

He tried to calm down as he mulled it over, Link was the Chosen one. Selected by the Gods above to bring peace to Hyrule, Link surely must be able to make it of Hylia thought he could. He was deep in thought when he was brought back into reality.

"Prince Sidon! You are needed by his majesty!" called out someone from outside his front door,

"I'm coming now!" Sidon called out, he walked to the door and opened it. Outside was a guard of the royal family,
