Purely satirical and just for fun. DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.

( If you spend your life

On the orange app every night

You should give this book a try

Read and write and roast

And - that's about all that I do

I talk about weird Wattpad stuff

To entertain me and you

So, remember to give a vote

and also, comment, too

Now, this song says farewell

On with TWWWL!)

. . . P, I thought that this book was gone forever now.

Well, it's not. I am back, stronger than ever, and am ready to . . . you know, do something.

Well, since I am ready to do something, let's get into it.

CONTESTS ON WATTPAD, HOSTED BY . . . WELL, WATTPADERS :

Now, if some of you assumed from the 'Contests part 1' in title that I, for some odd reason, was about to host a contest myself, well, you are delightfully mistaken, because I am the last person who should be conducting a contest on Wattpad.

Now, to those of you who don't know, I'll give a brief summary :

Contests, on Wattpad, come in the form of books, where you enter by giving a few details (Username, book, all that generic stuff). And, then over the course of a few days (months, mostly) you are judged based on few things, such as plot, pacing etc., and then assigned your points, and whoever gets the most points wins.

I suppose this is the format for most

CLEARING UP A FEW THINGS :

Now, I personally, don't really think contests are bad, but I don't think they're, like, amazing either. They're really cool, but really baffling sometimes. So, yeah, if you do contests or are hosting a contest, don't take my opinion seriously. My opinion might come across as biased to a few, because of my past bad experience (that was my fault btw), so yeah, don't take it secretly.

Alright, back to the topic.

CONTESTS : UM, THEY BAFFLE MY BRAIN

So, yeah, now that we know what contests are, let's talk about why I take them with a pinch of salt.

The good :

Well, there's a lot of effort put into these contests, which is commendable, and, of course, joining a contest = more reads for the host + participants = more engagement = more exposure = everyone happy :) And, of course, you could make new friends, and let your competitive spirit lose, so yeah, props to that I guess :)

The weird :

Now, what is the purpose of these contests? Most of them have noble purposes, which really is commendable, but sometimes I just wonder :

Why?

What is the reason that people are joining these contests?

Probably, to get more reads, you know? Or just be part of a fun project? Maybe they feel more validated that way?

But, you know, sometimes I am baffled by how seriously some take themselves.

For example :

*

A SKIT :

I imagine that this is what most contests will do -

Hey, welcome to *insert cool catchy word* awards!

Rules:

Follow this account (for exposure of the awards)

Add this book to your reading list (for exposure of the awards)

Add to library (for exposure of the awards/ notification of results )

Follow judge when announced (for support)

Don't bribe the judge

Prize:

3 place - Reads and votes

2 place - Reads, votes and comments

1 place - Reads, votes, comments, reading list add and exclusive interview!

+ Sticker

Now, I don't think contests are awful at all, but it seems to me, to be a bit of an over-hyped, over-extravagant read-for-read sometimes to be honest :/

Like, if I wanted reads, votes, comments, and exclusive interviews, I'd probably do it myself.

And, also, most of the time, the judges join themselves, out of their own free will, and are sometimes unqualified to be judging anyone ( like me judging contests ;) ).

Now, of course, it's pretty much all they can do, I suppose, given that most of them are individual Wattpaders themselves, and don't really have the resources to do something grand.

So, yeah, contests are pretty weird ( in the good way) to me (like I said, seems like a lot of effort for practically a  read-for-read ). Yeah, if you're in a contest (or are hosting one), good for you, hope you win whatever grand prize you're trying to win, and yeah, don't take this seriously.

Vote, comment, sticker, exclusive interview ;)
