William watched his men gather in the ballroom, it was supposed to only be a hundred men. He forgot about the wives and the children...the extended family who somehow knew him.
"a small wedding my arse!" he growled at Stephen who just kept laughing at his commanders dismay "There is around two hundred people present! Not even including the dragoons that didn't show"
"Oh calm it"
"Is she actually here? She's arriving soon, yes?"
"she's upstairs, I shall get her now" Stephen smiled before dipping his head "I'll be a moment"
William stood with the reverend for what seemed like hours, but his worries soon faded when he saw the crowd shuffling to either sides of the ballroom. He smiled to himself when he saw Evelyn dressed in her favorite pale pink dress that he had bought her. Stephen tapped her arms before walking her down the centre of the line that was formed. It seemed time had stopped when his bride was walking towards him, it felt right to finally have a love.
Stephen handed her off to William before joining the Mass gathering of people. He took Theodore from Serena's arms and held him.
Evelyn smiled up at William before taking his hand, he mouthed beautiful before turning to face the reverend. Then the ceremony began.
"Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together let them speak now or forever hold their peace" The Chaplain spoke clearly so everyone could here. And to William that minute seemed like an eternity. The reverend turned to him "Do you William Jackson Tavington, take Evelyn Lucia Anderson to be your wife?"
"I do" He spoke loud enough so everyone could here.
"repeat after me, I, William Tavington"
"I William Tavington"
"take thee, Evelyn Lucia Anderson, to be my wedded wife"
"take thee, Evelyn Lucia Anderson, to be my wedded wife"
"to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part"
"to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part"
"according to God's holy ordinance and thereto I plight thee my troth."
"according to God's holy ordinance and thereto I plight thee my troth."
He recited the vows with a smile before tilting his head to the side slightly. Evelyn blushed a slight pink as the reverend looked towards her "Do you, Evelyn Lucia Anderson, take William Jackson Tavington to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do" She beamed and looked up at William with a brilliant smile.
"repeat after me, I, Evelyn Anderson"
"I Evelyn Anderson"
"take thee, William Jackson Tavington, to be my wedded husband"
