Y/n's POV
"Morning Xiao! I made you your favourite Almond Tofu!" I brought the plate to him as he stood at the highest balcony of Wangshu Inn.
"Hm? What's the occasion today?" Xiao asked, puzzled by my gesture. Just looking at his eyes, I can tell that he wants to eat it but he doesn't reach for the plate.
"Must there be an occasion for me to make Almond Tofu for you?" I joked. However, Xiao just stares at me with his 'I-know-you're-up-to-something' look.
"Fine, you caught me. There is an occasion today." I moved the plate closer to Xiao, insisting that he takes it.
"Thank you but I don't know what occasion it is that made you make this for me." He folds his arm resisting his temptation to eat my Almond Tofu. I swear I saw him smirk just a second ago.
"It's your birthday today! So from the bottom of my heart, I'd like to wish you a happy birthday! This Almond Tofu is my gift to you."
"You give me Almond Tofu every year on my birthday, and not to forget other days. Commentating birthdays are really redundant." Xiao still isn't taking the Almond Tofu.
"Please, if you think this is all that I planned for you, you got it all wrong mister. This year will be different, I promise." What I have prepared shall be kept a secret for now.
"Y/n, there really isn't a need to celebrate my birthday, I've been on Teyvat for thousands of years."
"I'm not taking a no for an answer. I already prepared everything, don't let it go to waste now." Xiao looks back and forth from my eyes to the food I cooked for him.
"Alright, since you put it that way.. I don't have much of a choice."
"You won't regret it!" Xiao takes the plate of Almond Tofu and ate it slowly, not wanting me to see that he liked it.
As he was about to finish, I excuse myself to get a certain instrument. I grabbed a lyre that I hid in the kitchen. I've been practicing this song for ages and I finally got it.
Just before I reached the balcony, I started playing Lover's Oath. Xiao just finished his last bite of Almond Tofu and he froze at the sound of the lyre playing. As I slowly walked to him while playing the song, he turned to me stunned. (Check out the video below to listen to the song and what I did XD)
"When did you learn to play this song..?" Xiao asked after I finished the piece.
"I've been practicing for months." I replied with glee.
As expected, he asked me to play the same song over and over again. We chatted till night came, the perfect time for the next surprise. I brought Xiao to the little platform at Qingyun Peak.
"Hmm? What are we doing here?"
"You'll see." Not long later, fireworks were released in the sky. Xiao watched in awe seeing the lights, and we sat in silence enjoying the night.
"Thank you Y/n. I like it." Xiao smiled.
"Anything for my best friend." Y/n and Xiao then chatted the night away.
