I had no idea how to react. What the fuck was I supposed to do with the revelation that Mr Gray had set me up to get turned into a werewolf?
"I don't believe you."
"Well, I'm afraid it's true. Every word." Dorian said "You were chosen to be turned. Who would miss the party-loving Alec Colby? I chose you because in a lot of ways you remind me of myself when I was younger."
No. No way. It couldn't be... could it?
"But, why?" Victoria asked, "Why is a newly turned werewolf soul needed in Hell?"
"That information is above my pay grade. I'm sorry I don't have all the answers, and time is running short." Dorian said "Shall we get this over with like civilised people? Or are you going to put up a fight?"
Could we beat both of them in a straight fight?
I wasn't sure, but we could give it a damn good try...
Looking over at Victoria, she looked just as defeated as I felt. My eyes went back to M, his wand at the ready, then to Dorian with the document still clutched in his hand.
If we ever needed proof of God's existence, now would be the time.
I headed towards Dorian, and this time Victoria didn't stop me. I could feel the anger boiling inside of me, so I shoved my shaking hands into the pockets of my jeans and I tried to slow my breathing down.
The last thing I needed right now was to lose control...
As I reached Dorian he smiled and put a hand on my shoulder.
"Good choice, my boy."
He put the document into my hand and then reached into his jacket pocket to pull out a golden pen.
"Here, use this." He said, "An official document like this requires a special type of pen."
"Why is it special?" I asked, taking the pen from him.
But, it wasn't Dorian who answered the question. A flash of bright light appeared from nowhere, so bright that it was impossible to look at. When the light died down it revealed a man dressed in a blue suit with his long blonde hair tied back in a ponytail. He looked to be in his twenties at most, but there was something unnatural about him. His presence was almost calming.
"The pen is special, Alec because it will write with the blood of whoever holds it." the man said in reply to my question.
Okay, where the fuck had this guy come from?
"You..." Dorian sneered "You have no authority on Earth anymore. Didn't you get the memo? The Council banned you from ever coming back."
"Maybe so." the man replied "But the jurisdiction of souls still rests with the divine, unless you missed the memo?"
Dorian seemed to be lost for words. He looked over at M who looked just as surprised as the rest of us were at the arrival of the stranger.
Who the fuck was this guy?
The man walked over to me and Dorian and took the pen out of my hand. For some strange reason, I just felt like I could trust him.
"You won't be losing your soul today, Mr Colby." He said as he snapped the pen in half. As it broke a puff of red smoke rose from the pieces "I think, Dorian Gray, that it is time for you and your friend to leave now."
And before either Dorian or M could react the man raised his hand and they both disappeared in a flash of white light. The man then turned to face me and Victoria with a solemn expression.
"Are you both okay?" He asked "Your injured..." he said upon seeing the bandage on Victoria's forehead.
"Oh, it's nothing, just a cut." She said dismissively.
"If you'll permit me..."
Victoria nodded and the man approached her slowly and removed the bandage, revealing the cut on her forehead. The blood was now thick where it had already started to heal. I watched as the man closed his eyes and put a finger almost touching Victoria. The same white light as before glowed from his hand and when he put his hand down Victoria's wound was gone.
How the hell had he done that?
Maybe he was another wizard? I wasn't sure. The man had an energy about him that just made me feel safe and secure. It made me trust him.
"Sorry, but who are you?"
I didn't want to appear rude, I mean the guy had just saved both of our skins and my soul, but I still wanted to be cautious.
"I am Michael." the man replied simply "The Archangel."
A fucking angel? Was he for real?
"Your Michael?" I asked "The Michael? Seriously, you're an angel?"
"Seriously." Michael replied, "I am."
Then I stood back in shock as two white feathered wings sprouted from Michael's back without making a sound.
Holy shit...
"Is that the proof that you required, Alec Colby?" Michael asked as his wings disappeared as quickly and quietly as they had appeared.
"Thank you for saving us." Victoria cut in as I stayed awkwardly quiet.
"Miss Brown." Michael said "I was just doing my duty. I have been sent here by my father, it seems Lucifer is making plans to escape his place in Hell, and you are both a part of that. More specifically, Alec, your soul is a part of his plan."
My head was really starting to hurt...
"Why the fuck does Lucifer want my soul?" I asked "Why has Dorian gone to the trouble of getting me turned into a werewolf? I'm not special. I'm just me."
Michael smiled sadly "I'm afraid that we don't know what he's up to, or why he chose you. As I understand, your friend is missing, is he not?"
"Kian." I said, "Do you know where he is?"
"Unfortunately not." Michael replied, "It seems he has been shielded from our gaze, but I can assure you that we will keep looking."
"Just one more question," I said.
"Please, ask," Michael replied.
"Can you tell us where we are?" I asked "Because we were sort of thrown off course."
"This church is placed just outside of Edinburgh." Michael replied, "Your target is filming with Eddie Star in a house less than a mile from here."
Huh, well it seems like we weren't too far away from where we wanted to be. I almost wanted to laugh at how bloody ridiculous the whole situation sounded.
Boggarts, Dorian Gray, angels and on top of all that; Lucifer, The Devil himself wanted my soul.
And here I thought my life couldn't get any fucking weirder than me being a werewolf who was in love with a vampire.
Ah, who the hell am I kidding? Of course, it could always get weirder...
