We zipped through the various passages as we followed the weird substance created by Victoria's spell.
I was bloody surprised that we hadn't run into any Church members on our way. The place seemed to be almost deserted as we passed door after wooden door. Eventually, we came to a stop outside a heavy black metal door, and the smoke from the spell dispersed into thin air.
"This must be the place." Victoria said looking at the door with trepidation "Kian should be inside."
Shit. This was it. Everything that I had been looking forward to, so why the fuck did I feel so worried?
Maybe it was because whatever was behind this door, it wasn't my boyfriend. That I was bloody sure of. Kian would never not know me. He would never look through me like that... right?
Yeah, I was really overthinking this...
"Are we sure this is the right door?" I asked, "Like, absolutely sure?"
"The spell led us here." Victoria replied, "This has to be the High Lord's office."
"Would you like me to open the door?" Michael asked.
"No, I can do it. I have to do this."
I pushed open the door and stepped into the brightly lit room beyond. The room was clean and decorated with minimalist precision. A white wood desk took up most of the space, a deep red rug covered the floor, and sitting in the far corner in a comfortable looking armchair was Kian. He had a small leather-bound book open in one hand, and a glass of deep red liquid - blood - in the other.
"Make sure you close the door behind you, Alec." he said as he casually turned a page in his book "The draft if you leave it open is unbelievable."
What the fuck is he playing at?
"How did you know it was me?" I asked as I stepped further into the room and Michael closed the door behind us.
"I could smell you."
Of course, he bloody could... stupid heightened senses!
"And yet, you still waited for us."
"I did." Kian shut the book he was reading and stood from the armchair "See, I was curious about you. I had to see what all the fuss was about. Honestly, I'm disappointed."
"But, you already know me." I replied, "For fucks sake, please tell me that you know who I am, Kian!"
"Kian is not at home right now."
"What?"
"I am not your boyfriend, Alec Colby." Kian said with a nasty smile that didn't suit him at all "Kian Richards is a fucking pathetic orphan who was tricked by Dracula into becoming a vampire. I was a part of Kian long before that bloodsucking freak got his claws on him."
I am so bloody confused right now! So, this guy isn't Kian? But, it has to be...
"What are you?" Victoria asked, "Because that is Kian's body, and, whatever you are... you're possessing him, aren't you?"
"Very good, Miss Brown. Top marks." Kian said with a laugh "I am indeed possessing his body. I think it suits me, don't you? I might keep it."
"Let him go." I cut in, feeling anger boiling its way through my veins, I clenched my fists to stop my hands from shaking "Get out of his body!"
"Don't think I will."
"Alec, we don't even know what we're dealing with here..." Victoria said, panic laced through her voice.
