We had walked the rest of the way back to the sewer where the magical elevator would take us back down to The Brown House.
Michael was still bloody brooding over how he had dealt with Toby back in the forest. Sure, it might not have been the best way to give him a kick up the ass, but it was a kick that he damn well needed.
I just hoped that The Council would be understanding. Ah, who the fuck am I kidding? Of course, they won't be... but those were consequences that I was glad to ignore for now. Getting Kian back to normal was the main priority - along with making sure that I kept my soul firmly inside my body.
The see-through lift hissed out of the ground as Michael finished tracing the lines on the manhole cover to gain access. The cylindrical glass door slid open and we both stepped in. The door closed and we slipped slowly down beneath the surface.
As the darkness surrounded us I could feel the tension oozing from Michael. Huh. I guess that the angel is claustrophobic.
He seemed to relax as a crack of light began to appear at our feet, slowly growing larger as Victoria's living room came into view. The rough stone walls flickered as the green flames in the open fireplace danced along to a song only they could hear, and the odd assortment of decorations lined the walls.
We stepped out of the elevator and I was immediately tackled by a blurry figure that I just caught a glimpse of as we fell to the floor.
Shit.
Then I saw a flash of blonde hair.
Kian.
He grinned at me, his fangs reflecting the green light from the fire. He had gotten rid of the robes and obviously rooted through Harry Jekyll's stuff. He wore a white shirt and light blue trousers with a waistcoat to match.
"Are you bloody mad?" I asked him as he detached himself from me and pulled me to my feet.
"Just keeping you on your toes," He smiled "Who's your friend?"
"I am Michael."
Michael stepped into the room and glanced at Kian, his ice-blue eyes meeting Kian's blood red ones.
"Kian Richards," Kian replied holding out a hand.
"Ah, I've heard a lot about you," Michael replied shaking Kian's hand "And I know that demon inside your head as well. Kaicius has caused a lot of trouble."
I saw Kian's eyes flash momentarily before he frowned "How do you know that name?"
"Look, I don't know what Victoria has told you since I left," I cut in "But, you were taken, and when we found you... you weren't yourself."
"You were possessed," Michael added.
Yeah, state the bloody obvious!
"Victoria had to get me inside your head so that we could figure out the demon's name."
"You... you were in my head?" Kian asked, turning his attention onto me.
Yeah, this wasn't exactly the way I wanted to break that piece of news to him. I just hoped that he would understand that it was necessary.
"Well, yeah, I had to get you back," I replied feeling myself blush under his gaze.
Suddenly the door burst open and Victoria came running in, her unruly brown curls tied back in a ponytail, she had also changed into a red t-shirt with a large fanged, fluffy white bunny on the front and a pair of red jeans to match.
"Oh! There you are Kian... Michael, your back."
She quickly cleared her throat and looked around at the three of us.
"So, did you get anything?" she asked.
"Yeah, we did actually," I replied "Wesley said that he took Kian to a club where the owner performed an exorcism. The R&R Club."
"Woah, hang on... you spoke to Wesley?" Kian asked.
"Yeah, we wanted to find out how you had dealt with Kaicius before."
"I... I need a moment," Kian replied heading to the door "I need to get my head around all of this."
He headed out the door leaving me, Micheal and Victoria in silence.
"I'll talk to him," I said making my way to follow him, but Victoria put an arm out to stop me.
"Alec, be careful," she said, the worry sounding through her voice "Kian's state of mind right now is hanging on a thread."
Like I don't fucking know that...
"What the hell are you saying?"
"I'm saying be gentle with him. Don't provoke that demon."
"I think I'll be fine," I replied as I walked past her to follow Kian out into the hallway.
As I made my way out into the world of wooden panels and orange and brown carpets I saw Kian heading into a door at the end of the hall. I ran after him and stopped for a moment as I reached the heavy wooden door and took a deep breath.
I can do this... Kian needs me.
Before I could do anything the door swung open and I was suddenly face to face with Kian's blood-red eyes.
"I could smell you through the door, you know," He said with a sigh "Come in."
Of course, he could bloody smell me!
The room was comfortable enough, green wallpaper and bedsheets aside. Kian sat down on the bed, and I sat next to him taking his hand, his waistcoat lay discarded on the floor.
"I know it's a lot to take in," I replied "But, I had no choice Kian... I couldn't just give up on you."
"You saw Kaicius?" He asked, his voice full of sadness and regret "What he made me do?"
"That was all him," I replied squeezing his hand "It wasn't you, Kian."
He turned to look at me, his eyes showing the emotions he was feeling. Crap. I wanted to take all of his pain from him so that he wouldn't feel like he obviously was.
I pulled him close into a hug, but it wasn't nearly enough to heal him.
"I'm a monster."
No fucking way...
Breaking the hug I frowned at him, there was no fucking way that he was a monster.
"No, you're not," I said to him "You are the best person that I know, Kian, you're sincere, brave, loyal... a damn good kisser."
He chuckled then, I was just glad that I had managed to get through to him.
"And I love you more than you could possibly imagine."
Without saying a word Kian leaned forward and kissed me, his lips cold against mine.
I ran my hands up his chest, breaking the kiss as I unbuttoned the shirt he had on and lifted it over his head. I then pulled my own t-shirt off and threw them both on the floor.
Kian grabbed me and rolled us over until I was laying on the bed with him straddling my waist, he held my arms down and leaned down to kiss me once more, our tounges doing battle until I let Kian win.
Then he sat up and looked down at me, his blood-red eyes full of passion. I could see the slowly healing burn where Jonathan had placed a crucifix on him and I ran a hand over the faint red marks that now looked almost like an old bruise.
"You are the best thing that's ever happened to me..."
"Kian..." I said cutting him off "Just shut the fuck up and kiss me."
His fangs stuck out as he smiled back at me and did as I asked.
