*Louis’ POV*
Over the course of that week I had stayed at Harry’s, sleeping in the guest bed. I had already had some of my clothes there on account of how often I was at his house. Harry was a great distraction, I could tell he was trying. Everyday we’d go somewhere different. One day we went out to eat, the next to a music festival, today he said we were going to just have a sit in.
I went into the kitchen, brushing my fringe to the side before grabbing a bowl and milk for cereal. Cereal in hand, I walked into the living room and sat in my spot on Harry’s black leather sofa. He was sitting in his spot, eating toast with no plate watching the Sunday music countdown.
“So what are we going to do here all day?” I asked, briefly glancing at him with a mouth full of cereal.
“Dunno,” He said shrugging, still looking at the TV.
“Do you reckon, that uh… maybe I should go home?” I said slowly.
He turned his head, questioning what I just said.
“Do you think you’re ready Lou?” He said trying to read my face.
To be honest I knew I wasn’t ready. But I couldn’t wait to be ready or I’d be a permanent resident at Harry’s flat. I had to suck it up and go home. Hailey wasn’t out of the hospital until tomorrow. She’d probably stay at Emily’s and go to collect her stuff back at home.
I only shrugged back at Harry, deciding I didn’t want to answer that question right now. Harry had told me I could stay as long as I like. I don’t think he meant weeks on end though.
I got up, and shuffled into the kitchen. Over at the sink I washed my bowl out left it there. I went up to the guest room and put on my grey beanie and some sweat pants.
“I’m going for a walk,” I told Harry leaving the flat.
As soon as I got outside the chill bit my nose and I pulled my beanie down lower to cover my ears. The air was cool, crisp. Taking in a breath, I thought of what was going to happen when I returned home. Would all her things be gone? Would she take the TV? I really liked that TV. What if she had not come yet? I would have to face her and watch as she walked out of my life forever.
I breathed in another chilly breath clearing my thoughts. I had no idea where I was going, but I found myself on my street. There were no cars in front of my flat. No lights were on. The building look cold, instead of its usual welcoming look. I though about checking up on it, before realizing I didn’t have a key.
I began to walk again, now towards another house. One that I didn’t want to go to but I couldn’t stop myself from walking in its direction. I began walking up towards it, recognizing Emily’s house from its bright yellow paint across the street. I walked along sides it pulling up my sweatshirts hood. A single car drove up the street from behind me and stopped in front the yellow house. I slowed down a bit not looking directly at the car as its driver came out. None other than Emily.
Instead of going inside, she opened the passengers side. Out came a limping weak figure. Hailey. I stopped completely and hid behind a large tree, peaking out from behind. I felt like a creep.
Hailey slowly got out of the car. Emily help out a hand, offering help. Hailey refused it, and grabbed the crutches before hobbling off towards the steps. I decided now was a good time to start walking again. I ran, yes ran down the street. I looked back to see Hailey at the top of the steps. She was laughing. She then turned her head a looked me straight in the eye. I quickly turned around quickly heading back to Harry’s.
