Chapter 5: Waiting

Chapter 5

*Hailey's POV*

I must of dozed off because soon enough I felt myself being shaken awake. Louis was shaking my shoulders gently.

"Ok ok I'm up," I said shifting in my seat, avoiding moving my leg.

"Come on babe, it's your turn,"

Louis helped me up, and I hopped to the double doors where a nurse was standing.

She held open the doors, and I hopped through. Lou was now on the side of me.

"You look a bit helpless babe let me carry you please, I don't want you to hurt yourself,"

So there I was, a full grown women being carried like a baby through the hospital hall. I got to a hospital bed and Louis placed me down.

The nurse set some wires up behind me,"The doctor will be with you in a moment, he will most likely need you to take X-rays immediately,". And she put paperwork down on the table besides me before leaving.

I didn't talk to Louis, I was still thinking about what I thought of in the waiting room. Soon enough a doctor came in. "Dr.Stevens," he said.

"We're going to have to take you down to the X-ray lab, we'll wheel you down in this wheelchair but you might have to stand up for the X-rays."

I quickly pushed myself off the bed into the wheelchair. As we exit the room Louis piped up.

"Do you want to come? Uh with you?"

"Lou I think it's best if you stay here," I said not looking at him before the doctor brought me to the lab.

*Louis' POV*

I found myself back in the waiting room, feeling extremely tired and guilty. Another night ruined. What would this end like? A fight? Her leaving? I didn't want to think about it, but I couldn't take my mind off of it.

*Several hours later*

I fell asleep and woke up around 6 in the morning according to my watch. And there was the same nurse typing away on her computer. She looked like she didn't get a wink of sleep. I quickly got up and asked to see Hailey. After saying yes she unlocked the door and let me through.

Hailey was asleep. Her leg was resting atop a pillow. I let her sleep until 7, when the doctor came in.

"I have the X-rays from last night. It seems the bone in your mid-calf has crushed. It's in fragments. We're going to get you in surgery as soon as possible."
